high noon chapter 14 preview: coming friday, november 30
I watch as Harry slowly rises from the couch, saying goodbye to his friends before he makes his way over to where I’m standing near the stair banister. His smile immediately fizzles once he gets a good look at me. It starts at my legs, slowly rising up until they hit my torso, then my chest, and then he meets my eyes, his bottom lip slowly tucking into his mouth. “Holy hell.”
“What?”
“What?” he asks, lowly, his hands shooting up to finger the material around my waist. “What do you mean what? You wear a dress like that and you ask what?”
The blush on my cheeks is burning hot and I have to look away from him in order to hide it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
His fingers dig into my back, pulling me closer to him as his head moves beside mine and he muffles through my hair, “I think you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
I like that he can’t keep his hands off of me. If there was one thing I’d actually put thought into tonight it was this dress. It was lacy in all of the right places, slinky and dainty in all of the others. Maybe I looked like a cliché college girl who put on a pair of ears and some face makeup and called it a Halloween costume, but the way Harry was looking at me made me feel like I was the only girl in the room, so maybe the afterthought wasn’t so bad after all.
