thinking about the thematic implications of cinderella!hiyori bc i've always wondered why they chose that theme for hiyo when there were like, dozens of other princesses. well, aside from the obvious parallels between lipxlip being the stepsisters, etc. then i remembered how they portrayed hiyori's cinderella with her glass slippers off. so i thought, hiyori dreams to keep on running. but glass slippers will stop that dream because they'll break and shatter, or fall off like the tale itself. but the glass slippers were the most magical part of cinderella's story, it was what made her cinderella, what made her the heroine. but if hiyori takes off her glass slippers to run towards her dream, does that mean she can't be the heroine anymore?

which is why hiyori portrays her own version of cinderella, her story isn't perfect and it's no fairytale. the stepsisters of her story cared about her more than she thought, and the big bad villain of the story was the same as her, someone who wanted to be the heroine. and while her version may be different, she might take off the glass slippers every once in a while to run towards her dream, it never made her any less of a heroine, it never made her any less of a cinderella.

nagisa's appeared for like 5 seconds in hirotaru, probably even less, but i NEED to get these feelings out right now because the biggest reason i freaking love nagihiyo is because a theme in the idol series is finding someone who can and will chase your dream with you. because THAT is how nagisa is to hiyori. like how aizou is to yuujirou, like how asuka is to kanata, they're all each other's special someone, they're all trying to reach each other's dreams.

hiyori wants to keep running. and nagisa is the only one who will be able to keep running with her. aizou and yuujirou want to shine brighter than anyone else, nagisa and hiyori want to keep running faster than anyone else, and they're the only ones who can do that for each other.

deep inhale. okay i KNOW most of you arent honeyworks fans but i cannot for the life of me get the romeo au shibarisa/kotahina out of my head as a continuation to lipxlip's romeo so here we go. btw im following canon ships for everyone except for idol series ships

anyway the aftermath of romeo is actually lipxlip failing to woo princess sena bc. she's already with midori or whatever haha poor lipxlip KDHJDHD anyway i'm gonna. follow a weirder version of the fanon aiyuuification of romeo where prince aizou and prince yuujirou were set to marry each other (set up by queen tamura LMAO) for. economic stuff i swear im smarter than this but yeah

except they dont like each other (haha canon) so they simultaneously look into ways to escape said marriage and the only "way" is princess sena of another kingdom bc an alliance with them would be equally beneficial as an alliance with each other. ofc this plan sucks bc of several reasons, primarily they'd have to compete in wooing a complete stranger. although her younger sibling would have been viable except. she already hates them (deserved) KFJDGDJDHJD

"did you even consider if princess sena will like you. or if she already has a lover" junior adviser hiyori asks. she gets ignored bc of course they do that

anyway. lipxlip fail™ bc princess sena is already with the foreign vagabond midori and well they eventually settle their differences and *cue yume fanfare*

anyway back to actual point of this au which is prince ken of the east kingdom—with a long loooong history of being a playboy—is trying his very best to catch the heart princess arisa of [insert kingdom here] and prince kotaro coming into terms with his feelings for his childhood friend princess hina and yeah

gen 1 beloveds r kings and queens and whatevers now

juri and chizu are duchesses btw. theyre still friends with hiyori and chuutan still exists but now she's "lady chuutan" KDHMDHJ

ahaha anyway jurikou will happen bc prince koudai, disguised as a barista for who knows what reason, makes juri coffee (haha machiatto <3) and they use it as a form of communication until they finally get together

but ofc lets go back to gen 2 bc i cant have them reaching happily ever after too quickly </3 a series of hijinks ensue as the romeos attempt to woo the juliets, not limited to but including: princess arisa getting turned into a cat, the arrival of the older prince ayase koyuki, and some other things i will pull out of my hat tada

the entire au concludes with the romeoification of samishigariya, with both prince aizou and prince ken figuring out their loved ones made them a better version of themselves. "congratulations." <3

the fact that the word "anti" gets mentioned a lot in ft4 songs makes me wonder how well-received they were in their debut. as far as we know, they're the oldest and most senior idols in the series. not to mention that compared to lipxlip's dashing prince personas and mona's sweet angelic theme, ft4's brand is more, well, violent? i mean, their whole motif is the epitome of "bad boy" with how both their songs and personalities deal with darker themes and. if i know anything both in real life idols and virtual ones, aggressive and heavy themes don't sell easily, if anything they also attract a lot of backlash. not everyone sits well with the bad boy routine, not everyone finds the dark topics of their songs easy to swallow. which is why i think ft4 struggled a lot with some antis and haters during their time as idols, and probably even now. if hnw ever decides to go down that route, i think it'd be an interesting way to parallel chuutan, an obsessive lipxlip fan, with someone who intensely dislikes FT4.

that or the "antis" are their tragic backstories. either work tbh
