1. Which character do you love and everyone else hates?
Martha Jones is pretty much always going to be my answer to this sort of question. She always seems to get more hate from the Who fandom than any other companion, but I love her unconditionally.
2. Have you learned anything from your favourite Show?
Not sure if this counts as learning something from the show itself, but it was because of LOTR and The Princess Bride that I realized that I wasn't alone as a fan. I'm old enough to have lived a large chunk of my adolescence sans internet and unless it related to a boy band, fangirling was a lonely pursuit. It wasn't until I got to college that I met other people who were passionate about the same things as me. It's because of LOTR that Michele is one of my best friends, because of LOTR that I was introduced to one of the greatest fanfic series ever written, because of LOTR that I discovered World Without Sundays. And one of my favorite college memories is because of The Princess Bride. While working in the cafeteria one Saturday, I offhandedly said "No more rhymes now, I mean it" and another worker across the room yelled back, "Anybody want a peanut?!" It led to a massive, all inclusive TPB quoting session, with everyone excitedly spouting lines of dialogue, that ended when my friend Kim leapt out of a doorway and tackled Jakob Stuber when he said, "Rodents of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist."
I guess the thing that I learned is that loving something and being passionate about it doesn't have to be an isolating, solitary experience, that there are always other people in the world who are willing to share the joy with you.
3. Do you like sad or happy endings?
I tend to go for sadder, more bittersweet endings because, to quote Sally Sparrow, "sad is happy for deep people." Bittersweet, sad endings have a greater emotional impact for me and I like to be moved by the things I read/watch/listen to.
4. Which character would you love to have as a best friend out of your favourite fandom?
Hmm, that's a tough one because my friends already remind me of a lot of fandom characters - Donna Noble, Myka Bering, Merry and Pippin, etc. But if I have to choose, then at the moment I'm leaning toward Garcia from Criminal Minds. She's fantastic and bubbly and is a cosplaying Whovian, not to mention she works with some VERY attractive men.
5. Which character deserves a slap?
Right now I'm going with the Winchesters.
6. Which character deserves some love?
Um, other than Martha I can't think of anyone right now.
7. Who do you think is a character that was unsuitably casted in a movie/show?
Geez I have no idea. I'm sure I'll wake up at four in the morning with a dozen names in my head but right now I'm drawing a complete blank.
8. What was the last book (if you don’t read or know right now then show/film) that took your breath away?
The Book Thief, hands down. I felt the same way reading it that I do when I listen to great music.
9. What is one of your favourite quotes of your fandoms?
There are lots, but right now the only one popping into my head is from the movie Sliding Doors and it's "I'm a woman! We don't say what we want, but we reserve the right to be pissed off if we don't get it. That's what makes us so fascinating and not a little bit scary."
10. What is one of your favourite songs of your fandoms?
Dear me, that's a tough one. "Where There's a Whip There's a Way" by World Without Sundays from the Ringers documentary, "The Doctor is Dying" by Chameleon Circuit, and Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life."
11. How many times have you watched your favourite film/favourite episode?
Oh, I can never keep count of how many times I watch my favorites but you can always gauge how much I love a movie or an episode by how much I quote along while it's playing.
