@hobbslost sent 🎁 for a spo.tify wrapped starter. // 79— trust me not (hero and villain duet) by backseat vagabond
"you think you're a villain but i know that you're not... under all that angst and anger is a beating human heart."
he knows how it is to be scared , at least , to him , ( to them ) it looked like the younger was in some sort of distress , some sort of danger. Arthur moves the scarf higher up in defense , because he has to make sure to hide. Always to hide. He’s never seen anyone out here , the woods provided something of a protection , no one would find him out here. He’s slow to step closer , his hands are shaking , he calls out.
“ are . . . are you okay? “ he asks , “ do you need any help? Are you lost? “

IT'S A BIT OF AN AWKWARD SUBJECT between them, fathers. For a myriad of obvious reasons, the most prominent of which is her father's blood --- Metaphorically on Will's hands, though he tends to remember it mostly on his glasses. Still, the subject of fathers and inheritances has somehow come up in their conversation. Talking about the elephant in the room, he supposes, is easier than ignoring it.

❛ i revolt you, don’t i? ❜
"abigail," he breathes, face immediately contorting with HURT. brow is furrowed, his mouth has fallen open to object faster than his mind can choose the words. a moment is taken to process, to retrace his steps, to ask himself how he could've gone so terribly wrong to lead her to such a thought. she was the ONE precious part of his life, the only person that inspired hope for what lay ahead. she could have a life, an education, a home— but first, she's got to believe him.
"you could never revolt me." if will graham has said anything earnestly in his life, it is this. the urge strikes him to reach out, take her hand in his own and plead her to trust him. he shackles himself, resigns himself to lay a gentle touch on her arm instead, squeezing lightly. his lip twitches and his head hangs in preparation to bear his vulnerability for her. a sacrifice he does not take easily, but one he could always choose if it's in her best interest. "we may be holding ourselves together at the seams. but that will pass."
a reassuring tone now, and he brings his gaze to hers. "eventually, this will all... melt away with a new dawn. whatever's happened, you can tell me." something must have stirred this in her. whatever it was, will would put an end to it swiftly, with the divine fury of fatherhood. "and we can handle it together, but even if it feels like everything has changed," thoughtfully now, again more rueful than he means to be, dredging the deep waters of his own ache to tell her this. "i know what's revolting. you could never revolt me, abigail." // @hobbslost
this can't be all there is.
PROMPTS FOR DEEP CONVERSATIONS
"Doesn't have to be, you know." Mulder says, reaching a hand out to rest on her forearm. She doesn't have to suffer this every day. She doesn't have to hold this weight on her shoulders all the time. It was hard, carrying the weight of what happened, but she didn't have to hold it all the time. She could set it down. She could breathe. She could find a new way to live. There was hope.
"... There's more. I promise. I'll help you find it. Okay?"

abigail didn't seem to have any women around that could comfort her. her mother was dead. alana was there, but in a clinical position, hoping to get answers out of her that abigail wasn't ready to give. clarice didn't like the way hannibal and will were with her. and though clarice didn't feel an obligation, necessarily, she did want abigail to have someone that would let her make her own decisions. 'th'staff said you can stay at mine, for'a night. nothin' long term, just t'get outta here for a little while,' hands are slid into her back pockets as she glances over at the younger woman, walking beside her. 'thought it might do you some good, but it's up t'you, abigail,' @hobbslost.
