Why did my parents want to traumatize me?
After reading the list of the worst scenes from childhood films, I was left with a few questions.
2. Why parents let people watch these movies?
3. How can I make something equally disturbing to show the next generation?
I would like to think that adults had no idea the traumatic effects for Return to Oz (a Disney movie, by the way) and that head scene. I remember that vividly from my childhood. I remember being terrified...but also thinking the scene was very beautiful. The people who made these films were obviously gearing them towards children who would find the idea of heads being interchanged like dresses appealing...wait...no? That's not what they intended? Who are you making this for Disney executives? I cannot help thinking that my dark and twisty sense of humor is to blame on some Disney execs in the 80s and 90s green lighting REALLY MESSED UP KIDS SHOWS.
5 out of 9 of the films on that list are from Disney films. Did they just decide at one point children would not notice the dead kid in the background? Because trust me, Disney, I did ... and Hocus Pocus is still one of the creepiest movies to me today because of it.
Now, the only thing to do is to put pen to paper and start writing the next traumatizing movie for the youth of tomorrow. Good luck next generation, after what I was given...you'll need it.
