43 from the fluff list! <3
thanks so much pal!!
43.
Izuku can’t ride rollercoasters. He’s tried. They’re Katsuki’s favorite, so of course he’s tried. He went on the super tall curvy one, the one that loops in circles, and the one that spins around. The one where your legs dangle off the end. The super-fast one. The mine-themed one. And they all end the same way, with Izuku swaying unsteadily as he sits on the bench, trying to regain his sense of equilibrium and quell the queasy feeling in his stomach.
“You’re kind of a baby, huh,” Katsuki says as he rubs Izuku’s back, sympathizing in his own way. “That sucks.”
“Ah…this happens every time.” Izuku waves him off, trying to look as chill as possible, but his world is still spinning, and he can’t concentrate on Katsuki’s eyes. At least it’s a nice afternoon, sunny but not too hot.
“What?”
“Yeah.” Izuku forces a laugh. “Ever since I was little.”
Katsuki doesn’t seem to have anything to say to this. They sit in silence for a while. Once Izuku decides he’s feeling well enough, he stands, and Katsuki follows suit, accompanying him as they walk through the carnival.
“Let’s get you something to eat.”
“I don’t think I can eat right now.”
“Well—!” Katsuki grimaces, studying Izuku. “How about we go relax in the shade, I can get us lemonades!”
Izuku chuckles. “What’s your problem? Are you mad at me?”
“No! I just—Why did you agree to go if you were just gonna get sick? That’s stupid.”
“I wanted to go with you!”
“We’ve ridden so many rollercoasters together over the years…”
“I’m usually better at hiding it!”
Katsuki shakes his head, looking at the ground. “Jesus, Deku. You don’t—”
At that moment, they run into their friends Kirishima, Mina, and Sero, whose arms are full of cotton candy, hot dogs, and other assorted carnival foods.
“Hey! Glad we ran into you two!” Kirishima immediately palms off a hot dog and bag of popcorn onto Katsuki, who puts his lips in a hard line to resist protesting. “Did you guys go on the Voyage of the Ancient Obelisk?”
“Ha, yeah! It was nice.”
“Did you guys know Deku gets sick on rides?” Katsuki asks, his tone accusatory.
Kirishima frowns, looking to Mina. “That sounds right. Last year at the festival—”
Katsuki shoves the food back into Kirishima’s hands and grabs Izuku’s upper arm, turning to him.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I just—” Izuku doesn’t know what to say, feeling rather put on the spot. “I thought it’d be fun!”
“Whatever, nerd.” Katsuki lets go of his arm and Kirishima cuts in.
“We were actually just heading there. Wanna come?”
Katsuki replies, “nah,” keeping his eyes on Izuku as their friends walk past him.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Izuku asks. “Listen, If I choose to go and get sick anyway…I mean, that’s fully within my rights.”
Katsuki wraps his arms around Izuku’s waist, bringing him into his arms. “You drive me crazy, ‘Zuku.” Izuku can feel his breath hot on his skin as he places kisses along Izuku’s neck all the way up to his ear. A shiver runs down Izuku’s spine as he giggles. He’s so ticklish.
When Katsuki pulls back, he glances toward his friends for a second before bringing his attention back to Izuku.
“I don’t mind if you go again, you know?”
Katsuki just narrows his eyes at him.
“Like I guess it’ll be okay if we don’t do everything together. I’ll survive.” Izuku rolls his eyes in a display of dramatics.
“Okay…I’ll be back. It’ll only be like, ten minutes.” Katsuki matches his seriousness, taking his hands and staring deep into his eyes.
“You’re worth the wait,” Izuku declares before finally breaking character with a smile. Katsuki gives him a quick peck on the lips before walking toward his friends.
The truth is, Izuku only forced himself on all those rides so he could see up-close how happy they make Katsuki. But honestly, as Katsuki gets off the ride, comes over, and picks him up to spin him around in a hug, Izuku realizes he’s able to enjoy his smile a lot more when he’s not ready to hurl.
