yeah like honestly there’s a good and bad way to do dark aus, just like with anything else--unfortunately a lot of people throw characterization completely out the window for Stock Evil Personality to the point where it may as well not be the same person anymore

the way I see it, a protagonist can easily be made into a villain simply by amplifying and exploring the flaws that are already there (like joseph’s selfishness or josuke’s greed, for example). you don’t gotta do a complete 180 on what’s already presented in canon.

honestly it’s hard to say if she’d suspect anything because on the one hand she’s not stupid, but would she try to see the best of a situation and take him leaving for a bit at face value?

I feel like that Joseph has taken enough trips overseas that, as long as he does nothing out of the ordinary, she might brush off what suspicions she does have. But I definitely feel like, if there was strain in the relationship already, she couldn’t be 100% certain. It’s easy to talk yourself into thinking you’re reading too deeply into things, especially when you’re coming up on 50 years of marriage, but that amount of time together would also mean she’s highly attuned to what is and isn’t normal behavior.

horrible thought but honestly if they were fighting at the time this separation and the interaction with tomoko being the thing that actually reminds joseph /why/ he actually stayed married to suz in the beginning, which is why they’re doing better in sdc ,, also just the instant clicking between them starting with sense of humor and then just figuring out more and more along the line that they’re just perfect

honestly all things considered i wouldn’t even be surprised. TERRIBLE WAY TO GO ABOUT IT--i wonder if suz suspected anything or if she just kinda assumed taking an extended amount of time away from each other to let things cool down was all it took for things to smooth out?
