Some food for thought: Fisk catches Hoffman in the middle of his murder spree in 3D.
Fisk is getting ready to home for the night when he passes Hoffman killing one of his co-workers. He freezes. He's unarmed (or, maybe, he IS armed, but he doesn't want to shoot Hoffman.) Hoffman looks up, and they lock eyes.
For a moment, they simply stare at each other, thinking. Eventually, Hoffman breaks the silence with one word:
"Go."
Fisk slowly moves away, and as soon as he's out of Hoffman's eyesight, he sprints out of the building.
Hoffman just continues as if nothing had happened. What was the worst Fisk could do? Tell people he's there? Hoffman doesn't care anymore. Everyone already knows he's a murderer anyways.
Perhaps Fisk had known for a long time.

getting infected by hoffisk lowkey. I need to rewatch the movies to keep any eye out for their moments but Im pondering. Did Hoffman genuinely see Fisk as a friend, as the one person who stood by him no matter what, and hence spared him because of that? Or did he not even see Fisk at all? Just a simple clueless pawn that didnt even play into the larger scheme of things, someone so insignificant that he didnt even factor him into account?
Or maybe it was both? All his feelings simmering down into nothing but pity at some point?
