Choosing accommodation in Iceland is more ‘what we could afford’ than ‘choosing the best option’. To us, ‘private bath’ and ‘breakfast included’ were very important criteria when choosing a place for the night. As Asians, elderlies and conservative, we are uneasy sharing bathrooms; and, if breakfast were provided, we would not need to worry about cooking or dine in. In Höfn, what we could afford (and available) was a camping ground. Höfn Cottages. It’s a beautiful camping ground. Well kept. It way busy. Young adults running around having fun. Sharing showers with them was out of the question. We were given complimentary coins, Icelandic Krona, to be used for hot showers. We were informed that we need to insert coins to get hot water in our shower. We decided to just scrub ourselves with warm water in our ‘private toilet’. As for dinner and breakfast, Noraini cooked. If our children had accompanied us on this trip, they would have loved this camping ground. The bunker beds, the quaint little kitchen and the balcony were typical Scandinavian style. It was a pleasant experience. #Iceland #Höfn #HofnCottages https://www.instagram.com/p/CXrzI-dhrPE/?utm_medium=tumblr
