On day three of our holiday in Iceland we headed further north sticking to Route 1. The one place we really wanted to visit that day was the Vestrahorn mostly because Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol danced there in Diwale; but also the scenery was breathtaking. Vestrahorn or ‘West Horn’ stands 454 meters tall and it stands on the Stokksnes peninsula. It’s 16 km (20 minutes) after passing Höfn town. If you have driven into a tunnel, you have passed the right turn to this place. Whenever you have black sand, its stunningly beautiful. People skip visiting this place, I believe, is because there is an entrance fee. We had to pay ISK800 or RM26. We had traveled this far, RM26 was not going to stop us. And because of Shah Rukh Khan. This was where one of the doors to the car nearly got ripped off from a strong gust of wind. The wind here was ferociously nasty! At times Noraini and I had to stand still just to balance ourselves when the wind was really blowing. We took lots of pictures. There was an abandoned Viking village used to shoot movies we can just wander around; take pictures. After visiting Vestrahorn, we slept the night at Höfn Cottages, a camping site. This accommodation did not have an attached bath, so we had to take a bath in the toilet.
