Meta Post - Amelia
Amelia is not interested in outsiders, which is what makes her relationship with Mason so unusual. She has zero libido for anyone considered “outside” and is highly selective about people. She has no friends. They are either family, or not.
Her relationship with Margot is the same. She moves beyond friend and into family, essentially bypassing a friendship phase. Her thinking is black-and-white.
So her earlier relationship with Hannibal (also played by @hogthrob) trapped her--she was about keeping up appearances when the family moved to Baltimore. Hannibal annoyed her, often, but she didn’t really notice it until she met Mason. Mason had been stalking her for a while (I forget how long but hogthrob remembers, I’m sure), and when he finally introduced himself to her, she was standoffish for just a moment.
But because Mason was as inappropriate as her Tēvs (the man who once went to a Christmas party, claimed there weren’t enough balls on the tree, and proceeded to drop trou and put his own balls on a branch) and so forcefully reminded her of an Addams, she decided it might be fun to go along with him. And so it began.
So this is why Amelia doesn’t really give a shit how attractive or dark or rich or whatever another person is--they’re not family. You can’t dangle a relationship in front of her like it’s some kind of prize and she’s missing out. She doesn’t care, and doesn’t want them. I’ve tried to make her do it before, and there’s never any chemistry.
That’s why Mason/Amelia is my OTP, aka Masmelia. Now, that doesn’t mean the Mason you play has to have anything to do with my Amelia, but in my main verse, this is how it’s played out with my main Mason.
As a reader, I really enjoy how there's nothing cuddly or fluffy about your Mason. He's exactly the wealthy, influential, horrible bastard he should be, and he's like that to everyone. Also, he's delivered through clear, powerful, evocative writing.
nothing fluffy except the coat
@hogthrob replied to your photo “also i got a haircut at the sports clips near me and they did a really...”
Looking awesome. Manworld is odd sometimes, but good. Like the special little pocket for change in the bottom of the front pockets of trousers.

Brian Cox knocked of my socks in that role way back in the day.
yeah dude esp considering that at the time the lecter series was relatively little known, he did a bang up job and looked adorable in his woolly socks while he was chatting up my #2 fave will

Aegerine (and great answers, by the way)
You have a gift for deconstructing Mason and his family dynamics, that’s for sure. I picked this one because I thought it would be tricky to answer–sometimes being raised cheek-to-cheek with Jesus makes people run and hide from a simple Ouija board because: “SATAN!” And though Mason seems too bright and pragmatic for that kind of impractical fear, that level of brainwashing can sometimes affect people into adulthood. Thanks for the great answers and extra links!
^^ thank you!
ya i agree, there’s a fine line to tread with that kind of thing, but esp with mason, his beliefs are very subject to what is convenient to his own ends, ya dig ^^
another note: ill probs put together a meta masterpost or soemthing sometime soonish because i feel like there’s a lot way in the back of the blog that would be handy to have ... to hand

aegerine:my muse's opinion of the supernatural
This is a doozy. Obviously Mason is VERY CHRISTIAN, AGENT STARLING!!! And he justifies everything he does by the premise that God the Father wouldn’t allow Mason to do anything that was against His will -- in fact, Mason states at one point in the novel that he is explicitly doing god’s will and that he’d been given his vast fortune precisely because of that.
The Vergers are part of the Southern Baptist Convention, and it’s very in line with that that Mason expounds his interpretation of the bible throughout the book, as “ Laypersons have the same right as ordained ministers to communicate with God, interpret Scripture, and minister in Christ's name.” [x] It also is not a great leap to say that Mason would be in favour of a ‘Prosperity Theology’ school of thought, seeing as it is very convenient to his own situation and intents. And I think that he and the Verger Meat Company under his watch aren’t beyond a little creative hypocrisy when it suits the bottom line.
Now, while Mason is sincerely Christian, no matter how warped his beliefs may be, I see him as being highly cynical of anything outside of that -- witches, goblins, ghosts? Nah. It’s the kind of silly stuff that the unwashed masses tell each other because they’re afraid of everything.
Besides, Jesus protects u from that shit.
What character would you choose to play in an X-Men RP?

Jean Grey. I absolutely adore Jean and my entire existence basically revolves around Jean, she's my favorite above all and I've written her for a very, very long time (just not here). I have a Jean/Phoenix shrine in my apartment, it's so real and I've been told it makes me look like a sixteen year old but I don't care. Don't even ask me because I'll never stop talking about her.
