It must be the first time in the history of the world, that students (hogwartians) are so excited about their textbook turning into a movie.
hogwartian replied to your photo: all my best puns are on facebook
i’ve been a casual fan of yours for years and in that time i’ve never known or pondered your surname and now i feel sort of dirty like you are not an internet person, you are a Real Person with a surname. i don’t really know why it’s weird to me…
it's ok I am actually part of the matrix
We're BAAAAACKK
I think I only just fully comprehended that OMFGANDALF THE HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE IS BACK IN MY LIFE WITH NEW AND AMAZING TALES TO BRING EVEN FURTHER JOY TO AN ENTIRE GENERATION ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.
It's a good day to be a Hogwartian and a Potterhead. A very good day, indeed.
April Fools
I'm aware that it is August. But there is an article making rounds on my Facebook right now that is really just starting to get annoying.
It's a press release saying that JK Rowling is 75% done with an eighth Harry Potter book, but it is fake. It was published at 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2013, so it hit the media on April 1. It's an April Fool's day joke and all of my friends keep sharing it and reposting it like OMG THIS IS AMAZING I'M SO EXCITED! And all that I can think is wow, you're all idiots. They even call out the fact that it's a joke at the end of the article.
Reasons why it should be obvious that this is a joke:
- This would be MASSIVE, world-level news. If there was an eighth book coming out, it would be a huge deal, especially with the opening of the Harry Potter Experience in London this year and the expansion of the theme park in Orlando next year. This is not something that would quietly happen - Warner Bros and her publishers around the world would be all over the marketing for it.
- When her pen-name was exposed a few months ago, do you really think that the possibility of an eighth Harry Potter would be ignored in the interviews that followed? No. No, it wouldn't be. They'd be asking her how she found the time to write other books while working diligently on another book for one of the most successful book-based franchises in the world. Every interviewer would try to get a sound byte about this new book.
I am a Hogwartian, a Slytherin, a Potterhead. I LOVE Harry Potter. It changed my life, like so many others'. An eighth book would make me unbearably happy. But I have to pull a Hermione and be the logical one in this case. It is unfortunate though, isn't it?
