For the anon who asked, and anyone else who's curious: the teaching staff of Hogwarts c. A Night With No Moon's flashback sequences :D
There are tabs in the sleeves of their robes, to hold back the wide cuffs when they need to get their hands dirty - Sansa ties hers off with a flick of her wand, and does Durran’s when she sees that his hands are shaking. “We can’t let them breach the lobby,” Head Healer Martell says - his wheelchair creaks, but no one looks doubtful of his capability. They’ve all seen that wheelchair in action, and more importantly, they all know Doran Martell. The staff of Saint Mungo’s trust one another implicitly, in a way that had stunned Sansa at first, and she’s thankful of it now. Her wand feels heavy in her hand, suddenly, and she’s beside Willas without thinking about it. There are others drifting in among the Healers, too, blue robes dark and too few between the green, but she stays firmly where she is, guarding his weak left - his false leg hasn’t half the bells and whistles of Healer Martell’s chair, after all.

I did say I was working on something that’s been out of action for a while ;)
Do you think there are Hogwarts Students that feel they should be in another house? Like, I always get sortet into Gryff but 50% of the time I feel like a Huff. What if Myrcella was the same?? What if she's a Gryff who sometimes feels she sould've been sorted into Huff??? #seriousquestionsaboutlife
Ah, now, here is the thing: I disagree that she is a Hufflepuff. I think she’s a Slytherdore, both by legacy (Baratheon-Gryffindor/Lannister-Slytherin) and by nature (she is, after all, Cersei’s daughter - but also Tywin’s granddaughter).
I tend to think that she’d sort Gryffindor, sort of by choice? I think that she’d see the potential backlash of sorting Slytherin, esp. if certain other family members had already sorted that way - Joffrey, Lancel, other cousins - and so I think it would be in the back of her mind that Slytherin=Not Fun Right Now.
(this is all in the context of Hogwesteros, I can’t do ASOIAF/HP without going Hogwesteros, soz not soz)
Speaking personally, I’m a Hufflepuff to the bone - I identify with Hufflepuff house, I form my strongest friendships with other Hufflepuffs as a general rule ( mermaidmanderly and e-ffuh holla), but sometimes, I get sorted Gryffindor for reasons unknown. I think it’s incidental enough that it means basically nothing, and it doesn’t trouble me overmuch, but, there are occasional moments of doubt when I wonder if I ought to maybe be a Ravenclaw. And they worry me, for a while, but I know that I’m a Hufflepuff, in the same way as I imagine that you know that you’re a Gryffindor.
I think that it’s just one of those things - sortings are so vague, sometimes, so insubstantial in a way, that it can be hard to pin down why you know you belong in any one house, but you just do. And so, because you’ve nothing but a gut feeling, really, doubt is natural. But you always know, in the back of your mind.
Anything to say, bronzedragon essayofthoughts tobermoriansass?
crossover meme: some Hogwesteros Quent/Wylla?
Follow up to this.
The first time Wylla goes on a date AR (After Robb, that is, dearest Wynafryd was the one to coin the term and it’s stuck more than Wylla would like), it’s with Quentyn Martell.
She knew Quent, kind of, at Hogwarts. He was in their year, a friend from Charms Club who shared her then-unpopular Quidditch tastes. He was always nice. Kind of harmless, a little in his sister’s and cousins’ shadows, a little shy and incredibly awkward around girls he liked (oh, Merlin’s pants, remember that time he asked Dany Targaryen out? That had been awful for everyone involved), but nice.
So it didn’t occur to Wylla to say no, when Quentyn very nervously asked her out when he came back to the dock after his initial inspection with a full, detailed, and very pleased report of Manderly Shipping’s customs and excise records. She thought, what the hell, and agreed to let him pick her up at half past seven the following Saturday night, which gave her four days to find something to wear.
“Madame Serala will have something perfect,” Wynafryd assures her, tugging her down Diagon Alley - and it’s easy for Wyn to say that, being tall and slim and easy to dress, but the shape Wylla’s most comfortable in is short and kind of chubby with boobs to next year, and she just hopes that maybe, Serala Darklyn’s legendary needle will be enough to make something worthy of her first real date.
Hi! I've been reading your hogwesteros tag and I completely adore it :) I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on how the wildlings would fit in, muggel borns maybe, and if you have sorted them yet (Ygritte, Val and Dalla especially). Thanks, have a nice day ;)
Ygritte and Val are Gryffindors, and Dalla’s a Hufflepuff (Mance is a Slytherin, Tormund’s a Gryffindor, I haven’t given the wildlings sorting any thought beyond that).
Dalla and Val are half-bloods, as are Ygritte and Tormund, but Mance is a Sirius-style pureblood. The Thenns are purebloods who can trace their ancestry back to the first Viking landings on the north-east coast.
That’s more or less all I’ve got, I’m afraid!
I don't know i f you want prompts, feel free to ignore if you don't :) Saw the list you reblogged, i do stupid shit and you’re my doctor au in hogwesteros with jon/alys?
I’m afraid I didn’t reblog that with a view to taking prompts, I’m sorry!
As for Hogwesteros AUs... Hogwesteros is AU enough that the idea of writings AUs of it makes me dizzy. Since neither Jon nor Alys is a Healer in Hogwesteros (Auror and Unspeakable, respectively), I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to do this for you anyways!
Your reasoning for Slytherin Jon makes sense to me. I've always erred on the side of Gryffindor for canon Jon, even though I see a lot of Hufflepuff and some Slytherin in him as well, but I think his Slytherin traits (particularly the desire to prove himself) are stronger in the first two books than they are later in the series, so yeah, if he was sorted as young as 11, I could possibly see canon Jon going to Slytherin. Not that you asked, but those are my thoughts. :D
Jon’s youth is definitely a factor in his sorting Slytherin in Hogwesteros - if he sorted at 14, he’d go Gryffindor, and at 16 he’d go Hufflepuff (same as Arya, at 16, would go Hufflepuff instead of Gryffindor, but that’s all circumstantial and kind of irrelevant).
I’ve talked about it before, too, but a big thing for me in considerations of sorting is legacy - this influences Jon a lot. Lyanna was a Gryffindor, Rhaegar a Ravenclaw, and while Jon identifies most with the Stark side of his family (he’s Jon Stark, after all, and looks just like Lyanna’s whole damn family), he wants to prove that he belongs just as much to his father’s family as his mother’s...
Only problem being, Rhaegar was a Ravenclaw, which Jon doesn’t suit. The side of the family Jon identifies with/is close to (Rhaella’s faction, which is Important) are almost uniformly Ravenclaw, and Jon just... Isn’t a Ravenclaw.
But the Sorting Hat knows how much this boy wants to prove that he’s more than just the Stark bastard, and hey, he’s half a Targaryen and an ambitious little brat who has a good, sharp mind, and a knack for figuring people out.
Better be Slytherin!
NIAMH I NEED YOUR REASONING BEHIND SLYTHERIN!JON SNOW. I'M NOT SAYING I NECESSARILY DISAGREE, BUT I NEED TO KNOW.
Okay Sarah, AS YOU ARE LIKELY AWARE I have a nasty habit of playing a bit fast and loose with canon, which means I sometimes end up coming at things a bit sideways, but my Hogwesteros sortings are very important to me.
Also, I think it should be borne in mind that I find it really difficult to apply Hogwarts sortings in a world without Hogwarts. So, all my ASOIAF sortings are in Hogwesteros.
So I will do my best to explain Slytherin!Jon, in context. Spoilers for Hogwesteros/The Moment You Doubt Whether You Can Fly under the cut.
