This movie, woha~~ lovely, sad, amazing love story, I really enjoyed it 💛
Oh fuck
I’ve been bawling my eyes out for the past half hour probably more.
I start my night off (well really morning since it was 1 am) thinking I’ll just watch something on Netflix before I go to bed. I search up Call Me By Your Name knowing it’s probably not there but wanting to see similar titles.
Holding the Man.
This movie....wrecked me.
I’m absolutely sobbing and everything around me doesn’t feel real anymore. It’s based off a book, and a real life story, and it’s so chilling and heart breaking and lovely all at once and people need to go watch it right fucking now.
I’m sitting here not even knowing what to type I’m literally so speechless. John and Tim broke me from the inside out. Everything in the beginning seemed so perfect and I was just rooting for them you know?
Everyone always talks about how gay love stories always end in tragedy and well it’s true. This happened in real life. It happened to real people. And I’m just so fucking sad because all they wanted was to be together. They had no help and let the world take them. I can’t stop crying.
So I’m on a marathon of gay movies on Netflix
(In celebration of me getting my own profile)
Movies I finished:
-Alex, Strangelove
I thought it was v cute and I love friends supporting each other
-God’s Own Country
It was a bit much, but I got through somehow. I like the character development of both characters
-Holding the Man
I died. Like I am a ghost now.
-Handsome Devil
I loved this SO MUCH. Like. When Moriarty(I’m calling him that cuz I will only see Andrew Scott as that rlly good villain from Sherlock) showed up I almost yelled. The continuous narration was cute. And I was content with the ending sooooo
-The Way He Looks
This made me SO HAPPY by the end. (Is that a spoiler?) The main characters were so so cute but I straight up wanted to kill those bullies. Ugh they ruined every moment
-Hurricane Bianca
Lol I watched this just cuz I wanted to see Bianca Del Rio roast highschoolers
-Dead Poets Society x 💯
Ik ik it’s not gay(but let’s face it. It’s the gayest one)
Movies I started:
-Those People
So far it’s just very photogenic drunk artists in New York. What more should I want?
-Lazy Eye
So far it’s rlly funny
-Being 17
I’m veryyy curious how the two main characters will fall in love(or become friends in the first place)
-Esteros
Hahahah I watched only like a minute of this and it looks pretty good I guess
I’ll update and edit this when I get through more movies~ stay tuned bros👏
Also there are soooo many movies of this genre on Netflix I want to watch but dunno where to start, so give me some suggestions!
I watched this movie on Netflix with zero historical context. I was completely blown away by the story of Timothy Conigrave’s 15 year relationship with John Caleo. I subsequently went out and bought the book. I will never shake this story. I grew up during the height of the AIDS epidemic and lost an aunt and a cousin to it. Despite the grief, misunderstanding and outright hatred of the time, there was also so much love - hopeless, defiant love. Holding the Man is a memoir that is at once an intersection of identity, loss and remembrance. But at it’s core, it’s a love story. More than that, it is an act of transcendence, for in writing this book, Tim ensures no one will ever forget the love he shared with John. #holdingtheman #timothyconigrave #johncaleo #lgbqtromance #lgbtqliterature #lgbtq #gayromance #gaylove #whatimreading #bookreviews #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #writersofinstagram #writeblr #bookblr #readthis https://www.instagram.com/p/BriHf6VF-M7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=n1xuxlccpjc0
I recommend this. #holdingtheman #timothyconigrave #johncaleo #ryancorr #craigstott #guypearce #kerryfox #anthonylapaglia #neilarmfield (w: Katowice, Poland)
“I guess the hardest thing is having so much love for you and it somehow not being returned. I develop crushes all the time, but that is just misdirected need for you.” - Timothy Conigrave
