Hoes for the Holidays
This year, @buckets-and-trees , @biteofcherry , and myself are super excited to host a holiday event to spread some holiday cheer and your legs: Hoes for the Holidays ❄️
The event will start on December 1, but we wanted to post info now so you have time to write your stories if you’d like to participate. Here’s all the details:
When: December 1 - January 4
What: Fics about any Chris Evans character
Sheets
Tomura Shigaraki x gn reader
** This one was originally going to be set in A New End, but that fic has a really strict timeline and it wouldn't quite fit. Instead, this is a different AU where the reader gets taken in by Kurogiri earlier and spends the holidays with Tomura as roommates//future league members. Set about a year prior to canon. ** fluff A silvery bag with heavy tissue paper that's collapsing under it's own weight. It shifts like there's something made from fabric inside. There's an almost familiar feeling to it, but you can't quite place it. from the prompt "a blanket fort collapsing" wc: 1087
"Are you sure you know how to do this?" you ask Tomura as he moves a lamp behind the couch for a sheet to rest on.
"Of course I can make a blanket fort, who can't?" he spits back. Hmm, you think to yourself. But, like Tomura, you've never made one either. The two of you just heard the idea and you both remembered vaguely wanting to do something like that when you were kids. Neither of your parents would let you. Now, as unsupervised adults (well, mostly unsupervised, but Kurogiri is at the bar tonight for New Year's Eve), you can do whatever you want! So, a blanket fort it is.
An old TV plays in the background, repeating the same countdown every hour. You wish you had more channels or something interesting to watch, but it works. It's just noise at this point.
You pick up a string of lights the two of you found in a closet. Half of them don't work and the other half are flickering for some unknown reason, but they'll be fine for your purposes. You pull them from one side of the room to the other, wrapping the end around a nail in the wall. Tomura eyes you suspiciously, as if he doesn't think they'll hold.
"It'll be fine," you say. It's not like his ideas have been much better. The blankets he's using look far too heavy. If you're being honest, neither of you know what you're doing. That's okay though, if kids figure it out so can you and Tomura.
You throw the sheet from your room over the top of the light strand, adding to the monstrosity. When you step back, it looks close enough. You're not really sure what a blanket fort is supposed to look like in real life, but you think the chaos is just part of it.

Valentines Day: Dasha
It's a befuddling day. They had something similar to it, back home, but it was drawn from an old myth, an actual love story. Not someone being burned alive. Very Varan of them. The day led to feasts. They loved their feasts for their Martyrs. Only blood gets you celebrated here, just as it's the only thing that brings you to halls of splendour, of opulence. It's what got them here too. If you could say one thing about these people, they adore their sanguinely consistency.
So Dasha observes. Watches. The red ribbons, intertwined with thorny branches, the scent of burned rose petals drifting down in a sweet, harsh haze. The way that other courtiers took is as a day to be more brazen, fingers trailing along legs, little gifts passed under the table, wedding bracelets pushed up, into sleeves. In their personal opinion, they'd be a bit miffed if they died for love, for an all consuming tenderness and adoration, only for the day to be used as a way to get a more… Amorous intent into someone's day. Like if they died for flowers, and then on their celebration day, flowers were burned all day, or cut up and eaten after being dipped in lemon juice and sugar.
That's what this day was. Gifts and proclaiming intent. Sure.
Servant
You had barely gotten dressed when sent for. Slipping on your thicker garments to fight off the chill that had haunted you all night, with your threadbare blankets and thin sheets, when your door was opened and a piece of paper offered to you. Suddenly a day of helping prepare things in the kitchen, endlessly pulling petals off of flowers, preparing the sheets for all the royal beds, vanished into thin air. Your thighs still felt like they chafed when you finally got to Dasha's private apartments. Hopefully Sabnock would be less bitey today.
"Have dinner with me." That halted your beleaguered undressing, still keeping an eye on the dozing snow leopard.
Simple request. The Beast stretched out on Dasha's bed, black drool leaking from its teeth, a prepared table, a little gift for you. For a moment of horror you thought back to all the things powerful people gave their mistresses and kept boy. Ostentatious rings and outfits. Love stories told above stairs, only to reveal something sickening below. Thefts and ostracisation and harassment. Daring to show off like a peacock, only to get your feathers stripped. But it was nothing like that. Sensible Dasha.
They got you a thick blanket. Weighty. It felt like you were holding a cloud in your hands.
"For the cold. You mentioned it."
The cold. You mentioned in a few weeks back.
Royal
Breakfast was long. Mama and Papa of course weren't there, dining privately. Some of the others too. Aksana was going to travel three hours for her fiance to meet her for tea. She travels a few hours in return for him travelling for nearly two weeks. A fair deal, if the rumours of how besotted the boy was were true. Abraim and Albina disappeared after eating a small amount. Sasha was just saying the two of you could do something that day when a note was delivered on a silver tray. For you. Dasha.
"Explain it to me." The breeze flitted past your skin, your coat too thick for it to affect you in any real way. "All of this. What do they do?"
"They?"
"You. The court. People who celebrate." Dasha paused to pluck a flower free from a bush, twirling the little thing between their gloved fingers.
"Well. Mama and Papa go out. To the Capital, to watch something, eat something."
"Can't they do that here?"
"Yes, but they'd have to do it with the knowledge that they could be interrupted at any moment. Kissy wanting to have tea, or something with the twins, or some important state business."
"Hm."
"And the others? We organise a feast and have some dancing. It's a big thing. Masquerade. A party. Last year Papa had a pavilion raised to float on the lake. Many people fell in. Apparently. He said it was a great success in his letter."
"Do you prefer the party, or going out to be alone?"
You felt butterflies hatch from whatever weight had sat in your stomach the entire day.
"Why?"
"Because I want your opinion. We could meet again in our masks tonight, or we could abscond for a few hours. Your Shadow can linger fifteen steps behind, as we have our own day."
Your tired heart beat just a bit faster.
"… I'd like that."
