there is a familiar pounding in her chest, her pulse racing through her veins to ignite the starving muscle at her core. perhaps on the wings of melodrama, but it still felt as though her heart had yet to awaken, shaken up. because right now. she’s giving Cosima the cold shoulder. hands busied in her sink. back facing the geek.                                 ‘       oh, can’t you…’

She sits on the couch, head rested in sweaty palms, words muffled into skin. She can hear Shay behind her, but she doesn’t turn--two can play at this game, and she is one determined participant. Her brow dips, furrows into a look that is half frown, half grimace.

                             ‘I’m sick of being treated like--Like                              I’m going to fall apart at any moment,                               ‘kay? I can go to the appointment by                              myself. Don’t act like I’m-- What, cutting                               you out? What am I doing wrong?’

(This is true, all true, but it is not the whole truth: she is scared, too, of bringing Shay back to DYAD, of having Shay find out the truth.)
