In the snowy plains, Samantha is walking around avoiding any possible tributes when two silver parachutes fall down in front of her. She is the first tribute to be sponsored.Samantha opens them to see matches in one and a packet of chicken jerky in the other.Samantha thanks her sponsors but is praying for a weapon, more specifically a knife and to find her way to her district partner and ally Rigel.
Oliver and Kathryn are by the fishing holes when another silver parachute makes its way down to Oliver. He smiles and opens it to reveal a packet of beef jerky. He smiles and hands one to Kathryn and eats one himself.Oliver lightly ices his lip and eye with the snow, carefully cleaning himself up but trying not to avoid losing that precious body heat. The pair from district one make their way through the fishing holes when they come into contact with Rigel from district 10. Oliver smiles wickedly. He runs at Rigel slicing his left arm and right leg. He goes in for the kill when more tributes are approaching. Kathryn pulls him back and tells him they will be dangerously outnumbered if they stay. Oliver slices Rigels chest, and then runs off towards the snowy mountains.
Another parachute is making its way into the fishing holes but this time it was for the district 11 tribute, Holly. She smiles to herself and her ally Siobhan as she opens it and finds a sickle.Siobhan pulled Holly to one side,
“Listen,” she said, “We’re going to have to move on. I have this-” Siobahn held up the pick axe, “But I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to get caught up with the others in this area. There’s only two of us.”
Both of the girls teeth started to chatter slightly, the cold was biting against their faces.Siobhan turned towards the Plains, they both knew that they could make it over there but staying hidden would be a problem. They knew one thing for sure; they did not want to go back to the Cornucopia.
’We should head around the Cornucopia; if we go through the Plains and head towards the Mountains we could have a chance.’
Siobhan grabbed Holly’s hand and pulled her away from the group of tributes and towards the stretch of water that separated the two sections.
The highly populated area of the fishing holes gets another sponsor which is kindly received by Dalton from district eight. The high score is the private training has paid off as sponsors have come together to send him a bow with twenty arrows.
The largest ally group heads back towards the cornucopia where Toni from district seven picks up the pack of knives. Toni asks if anyone had seen the direction the district nine tribute Jules had run off to but no one seemed to know.
Dallas and Dalton went to grab to the knives when Toni attaches them to her belt.
“Well you each got an 11! You are more than capable with one. I could use a little extra protection.” She says.
The career pack make their way to the mountains when a light hits them. They go to attack when they see it is Samantha from district five. They offer Samantha a place in their pack and she agrees, knowing that if she declines it would mean death on her part.
Rigel from district 10 makes his way to the mountains, trying to nurse his new wounds thanks to Oliver. He is in pain and is in desperate need of medicine when a silver parachute falls from the skies. He opens it to see a packet of jerky. He thanks his sponsors and asks for some medicine to help ease the pain. There is only so much the snow can do.
Dasha soon starts to panic as she quickly finds out that the fishing holes are not safe. She takes a short and very risky rest and heads up towards the mountains in hopes of finding her ally Jamie.
Courtney on the other hand has another idea. Although she is allied with Dasha she is wondering whether or not to expand. She brings this up as Dasha recommends moving to the mountains.
“Dallas or Dalton might be good to ally with,” Courtney says.
“And what makes you think that they won’t just kill you?” Dasha snaps.
Courtney keeps her opinions about the allies to herself even though she is contemplating an alliance with alliance with Oliver. The pair run towards the mountains, quickly covering their tracks as they go along.
Gabriella is in search for her allies Siobhan and Holly but being on her own, she is starting to feel more like a target than a tribute. She tries to remember where he allies went but could not remember for the life of her.
Amelia from district five looks up in envy as there was a swarm of silver parachutes, but not one single one for her. She looks for a cave or something to keep her warm but does not manage to find any so she decides to take a rest on a piece of Flat Mountain. She tries to make a fire but does not manage it. She rips off a bit of tree bark and chews it to settle her growling stomach, but luckily she manages to make water from the snow around her.
Jules carefully approaches the frozen lakes, testing the ice to see if it would hold her weight. Thankfully it does so she slides her feet along the ice, wishing that she had a pair of ice skates like Oliver from district one. When she is around the bend, she gets on the land and tries to hide her location from the other tributes.
Jules sits down on a rock that sticks out of the ice and says thanks to someone for the bread and the thick woolen socks that she managed to grab at the cornucopia. Jules does the very clever thing of unzipping her coat and tucking the bread in, holding it close to her body so it does not freeze and then slides the socks onto her hands. After an hour, Jules makes a move towards the snowy mountains, not realizing that the snowy mountains are becoming more and more populated with tributes.
Sitting at the newly made camp, Oliver and Kathryn are trying to keep warm and ration their limited food supply when a silver parachute falls in front of Oliver.
He opens it to reveal a set of four daggers, perfect for throwing but feeling Kathryn's unease at this he gives her only one. She takes it with a smile as he starts working on sharpening some sort of thick wooden branch.
The district eight tribute girl it wondering around the snowy plains, without any weapons when a small arctic fox appears in front of her. She smiles as she gets a sharp branch, ready to attack the small animal. She runs at full speed at the animal, which does not seem to be doing anything just sniffing around when Ashton slips and falls into the sharp wooden branch. Across the screens all around Panem, the camera is focused on the dying tribute from eight. The branch has pierced right through her body, more specifically her stomach. She manages to get up and tries to pull it out only to let the people of Panem hear her screams.
The cannon fires and Ashton from district eight is dead.
At the mountain, Jules is still freezing when a silver parachute floats down to her. She opens it and she can see another loaf of bread. She decides to keep it in its wrapping, knowing that she will not have enough room in her coat for both of the loaves.
Dasha and Courtney are walking up towards the mountains when a silver parachute drops in front of Dasha. She opens it to reveal a spear that is identical to Courtney's only her's has the number two engraved at either end. Now both of the tributes are armed and with their private training scores, they should get a fair bit of attention.
Dalton is first on the watch patrol as the rest of his allies sleep in the blistering cold when a silver parachute falls right in front of him.
He quickly opens it and smiles as he has received a four person tent with a carry bag for it. He wakes up his allies and they all help to put it up and in a matter of ten minutes four of the allies are warm and asleep peacefully as Dalton thanks his sponsors.
The district five tribute woke up to take over the watch shift when there was a small silver parachute heading towards her. She opened her hands out for it and it landed in her hands. She pulled away the packaging to reveal a box of ten matches. She smiled and lit a fire, keeping herself warm.
Jamie Spicer Lewis is next and is shivering and rubbing her hands to keep himself warm but hardly manages it. He goes looking for a small cave but does not find anything so he goes into the fetal position to let the heat spread across his body.
Once Jamie is warm enough, he starts walking across the snowy mountains. He can hear Courtney and Dasha talking. He hesitates as he is itching to steal one of their spears but he is outnumbered so leaves it. Before Dasha or Courtney can notice him, Jamie makes his move away from the snowy mountains where he can see his district partner Jules. Although Courtney was a part of his original allies, he decides that the two armed tributes are best left alone.
When he finally reaches Jules, they both manage to share a loaf of bread that Jules had collected from the cornucopia as that one was starting to freeze. They both decide to move further away from the mountains, away from the other tributes.
