I’m done. I’m broken. Amalgamation by Hollycomb fucking broke me. The last pages? How dare you ?? Oh okay now I HAVE to think about the passage of time and how everything stars to blend together and destiny has its twists maybe the path that looks terrible is actually a good thing and MAYBE I might find happiness in my life in where I least expect it. HOW FUCKING DARE YOU MAKE ME QUESTION. Like Im holding back my tears as my heart aches while I think about how Stan and Kyle love each other. Wuthering Heights type shit OKAY , the real world is in flames right now. And despite the darkness I believe in real love. Fucking love ? Cuz South Park Stan x Kyle exists? Truly what the FUCK okay
Fanfic spotlight: Children, Wake Up series | hollycomb
So, I've never seen Star Wars (still haven't), but when this was being written I couldn't stop thinking or talking to folks about it. At this point, there is stuff in here that I think is canon because it's so creative. I love that Kylo Ren and Hux get punished for the shit they both did, and have to learn from it. This series is paced so well and gives each of the characters time to seriously fuck up, learn why their actions were wrong, and then grow from it.
The first story, Life Sentence, No Cell Mate, is a PWP where Kylo learns some things, and he and Hux learn more about each other. The second story, Ceasefire, kicks the story into high gear where Kylo realizes something is wrong and must rescue Hux. This goes well, until it doesn't. The final story, Under the Ruins of a Walled City is Hux paying for his crimes (the legal scenes are so well executed), and Kylo trying to figure out whether or not the big evil has been defeated, and how to save Hux. The ending made me cry which I cannot recommend enough.
I don't know if I can emphasize this enough, reading this week to week as Hollycomb was writing it was such a joy.

Never Change by hollycomb
summary: Thirteen years after his high school girlfriend's pregnancy upended his life, Stan is still in South Park, working with his partner Bebe as a local cop. They're in the process of investigating a series of possibly connected murders when FBI agent Kyle Broflovski returns to town and informs his old friend Stan that this is his investigation now.
holy shit guys when I tell you this fic is the most beautiful shit you will ever read I meannnn itttt! this fic is now way up there for me alongside ship in a bottle (biggest compliment ever). this fic had fucking everything, the build up, THE PLOT TWISTS! holy shit it was one after the other. in this story Stan had an accidental pregnancy back in highschool, got married to the girl he knocked up and they had two beautiful kids before separating a year before this fic is set. when I tell you how he is written with his kids is so on point and cute omg! oh and his fear to turn out like randy, oh sweet pea! this fic has everything, and you will love it if you're a little crime freak like me, fair warning it does have a bit of gore but tbh its minimal, so if you don't love that still fair warning but tbh I think you could get through it. also I'm obsessed with stans friendship with bebe it was actual fucking funny and cute! also I hate Cartman in this fic, while its not how I imagine Cartman, it is still quite in character for him, and lets just say he wasn't as lovely back then during high school as we thought he would be... I had to read a cartman-centric fic after to tolerate his character after this fic cause holyyy shitttt.
fuck me hollycomb you've done it again but lets be real whose suprised! I recommend this with all my heart, there is nothing I could type or say in this rec that could even try and say how good it was, the ending just truly fills your heart with warmth, fr that epilogue was too damn sweet!
Everlark: The Classics #8
The Unrecorded Hours by hollycomb
Published: 2013
Chapter/s: one shot
You know those specific pieces of media you consume that urges you to create something so profound too? That's what reading Unrecorded Hours for me feels like. It made me want to write after reading it for the first time, unknowingly making it the second fic of the hundreds I read in this fandom after Peeta's Games because of course I'm still hungry for more post!mj content after reading a trilogy in Peeta's POV lol.
I honestly don't know how I can curate exact words that can describe this masterpiece of a one shot because it's just gah. It's raw and sweet and angst. It's the classic growing back together fic after MJ. I tried to make a venn diagram to compare this with The List (another amazing gbt fic) and one difference that makes them stand out together is UH resonates Katniss' grief and The List manifests Peeta's.
Katniss' uncertainties and insecurities are told in a very raw way in the sense that the structure recognizes she is still a child. A wounded one. Her stubborness and unfiltered anger by and for the events that took place targeted Peeta in the first few scenes and that alone is such a realistic take. And gah, the tub scene with her singing? so, so raw and beautiful.
Just look at this excerpt!
She loves him because he's saving her now, every day, with a kind of sustenance that she couldn't have anticipated needing when she was a starving girl in the rain.
I don't want to spoil anymore so I'll stop here. It's a classic. It's peaceful. The ending is the right amount of inclusivity before the canon epilogue. It's a fic that should be passed along in this fandom for those new here as an initiation rite of some sort lol. Get to reading it, people!🤺🤺
have you ever just thought about something and then go like 'hollycomb would write that type of shit' and cry(optional)
hollycomb is so overrated. her portrayal of style is so cliche and ooc but everyone drools over it for some reason.
.
“But I think we should all exercise caution until we determine that this manifestation of the Force in Ren’s little friend isn’t something malicious in origin.”
“Don’t call him my little friend,” Ren says, snapping out of his trance. “He’s taller than you.”
“Sorry,” Luke says. “Your towering lover?”
