I'm sure your dog is an amazing dog. Good dogs are raised by good people, and you definitely are a good person, okay? I think it's important to maybe question how things are going every once in a while, but know that you are doing your best :)

Thank you. :) I was talking it all over with my husband last night, wondering if we should get him special training, and Jaime pointed out that we can just walk away from situations like that. I'd been trying to keep them out in the yard yesterday so they weren't in the way of the movers bringing in our new mattress, but really, I should've just taken him out when he wouldn't calm down even after sniffing the dog (and when it became clear that the other owner was not going to stop her dog from charging him, even while I had him on leash). In the future, I won't stop to weigh the inconvenience, change of plans, any of that stuff - I'll just take my dogs and walk away.

:cuddles you: You poor thing, that is awful. Even the best of dogs have issues sometimes with other animals. You are doing great, you just had a rough day. That other owner should not assume that another dog will like their dog.

*cuddles back* You're right. You're so, so right. And there was one point where the dog was getting up in Benny's face and they were being really loud and snarly at each other, and I kept stepping back and pulling Benny with me, but the dog just followed us and his owner did... nothing. Absolutely nothing. I should've walked away right then. I know better now.

Look, my dog is way worse than yours (and part Pit, to boot, which makes people afraid of her) and it's NOT MY FAULT. She was damaged at an early age, just like Benny. Some damage can't be undone, but at least they have us to keep them safe.

And trust Caroline to put it all in perspective. :) Thank you. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and adopt him when he was just a puppy, before the world got to him... I can't, though, and yeah. Yeah, I'm really happy he ended up with me. At the very least, I can sympathize with his neuroses, and I can make sure he takes his meds and is never apart from Opal. I can make him as happy and safe as possible. :)))
