As soon as I entered my room, I spotted a sandwich on my bed.
Quickly, I changed into an oversized shirt I had stolen from 221B at some point and jumped onto my bed, sighing in relief when I finally relaxed.
After eating the sandwich my mother had left, I allowed myself to take a quick nap to prepare for all the drama about to happen.
"Hey, wake up your Aunt Cassie will be here soon" My mom said, shaking me.
"I'm up, jeez" I sighed, pushing her off me as I stood up, heading towards my bag to grab some clothes and things to get ready for the day.
"Good, she should be here soon. The rest of the family are coming around noon" She smiled, looking over at me as I looked at the clock.
"Great, can't wait" I said, sarcastically earning a sigh from my mother.
"Can you at least try and get along with Irene. She's a lovely young girl and thinks the world of you" She sighed, heading to my door.
"Of course, she does" I muttered, watching as my mother left my room, an annoyed scowl on her face.
Throwing on a pair of leggings and a red sweater on, matching with my red converse, I headed downstairs, phone in hand as I text John, knowing I wouldn't get a reply from Sherlock as he rarely checked his phone.
I sighed to myself as I entered my lounge to see Irene sat on my couch, a sly smirk playing on her red lips. Her dark hair pulled back in a perfect style, different from my messy laid-back hair.
Obviously, the best for the dominatrix.
"Y/N" She greeted casually, looking towards my mother who was in the kitchen.
"Irene" I sighed, taking a seat opposite her, my right light swung over my left as I sat on my phone.
"Ah, Y/n you're here." My mom said, walking into the lounge automatically sensing the tension in the air.
"She's grown up beautiful hasn't she, Mrs Moriarty" Irene smiled, shooting me a wink when she knew my mother wouldn't notice.
Rolling my eyes, I observed the two interact.
"Obviously not as beautiful as you, Irene" My mom smiled.
"You must have men on their knees begging for you, mustn't you?" My mom continued.
"Oh, you have no idea" Irene smirked, looking towards the door as her mother walked in.
I watched the three of them interreact, waiting for my father to walk through the door.
'I've been down for like five minutes and they're comparing us'
'Sherlock says sass them'
'Tell Sherlock I said I'd rather not, I don't fancy dying today'
'He said to tell you if you die, he'll solve it'
I chuckled to myself as I put my phone on the table in front of me.
"Wow, Y/N. You've grown!" My aunt smiled, walking towards me before wrapping me in a hug.
"It's great to see you, Aunt Cassie" I lied, plastering on a fake smile.
"You look great!" She smiled, playing with my hair.
"Obviously not as good as, Irene" I said, not missing the unamused look on my mother's face.
"Non-sense, you're both beautiful." She gushed, finally stopping touching my face.
"Say, could you two do me a favour?" She asked, pulling out her purse as she looked between Irene and me.
Letting out an inaudible sigh, I nodded.
"Could you head to the store for me? I need some cigarettes for Paul" She said, referring to her new husband, Paul.
She was his fourth husband, and her fortieth boyfriend.
"Here you go. Get yourself something for you and Irene" She smiled, her curled blonde locks bouncing on her shoulders, her pink lip gloss shining in the light.
This was her way of trying to get us to bond. Sending us away to do things together.
"Let's go, Y/N! I can't wait to catch up with you" She smiled fakely, glancing over at my mother to see her happy look.
"Great" I muttered, following her out of the door.
Irene and I walked in silence, the only noise being the passing car and the clicking of her heels.
Her white and black dress tightly hugged her curves, making her look like a goddess.
She literally had people begging on their knees.
"So, we're still rivals then?" I asked, blankly, mentally cursing myself for forgetting my phone.
"Obviously" She stated, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
I don't even know why we hated each other. It just happened from the moment we met.
Even as kids we constantly argued, over anything. Sometimes it led to physical fights.
Of course, it was always my fault.
The troubled girl whose brother left her.
"I don't know why you're such a bitch. Do you feel like you have something to prove?" I spat, stopping and facing her, a blank look on my face.
She paused for a moment, a look of anger on her face, hatred in her teal eyes.
"You're gonna regret that" She spat, speeding ahead of me, as fast as her heels would allow her.
Rolling my eyes, I slowly trailed behind her.
"Here you go" I said, forcing a smile on my lips as I handed my aunt a packet of cigarettes.
As soon as she took them, I leaped for my phone.
"Mom, I'm gonna go upstairs for a bit. I'm not feeling too well" I lied, watching my mother and she turned towards me, giving me a slight nod.
"Don't forget lunch in at two" She said, before I headed upstairs.
'I don't know if I'm going to make it through this week'
After sending the text, I threw my phone onto my bed, me following shortly after.
'I'm gonna hit someone or myself I swear'
Sighing to myself, I grabbed a book off the bookcase in my room and began reading.
A few minutes later, my phone buzzed.
'Never seen you so frustrated'
'Try being around some beautiful woman who makes it seem like you're the bitch'
I smiled to myself, checking the time.
Sighing, I slowly sat up, tossing the book onto the floor.
"God help me" I muttered to myself, grabbing my phone before heading downstairs.
"Oh, Y/N good just in time. Irene's just bringing out the food." My mother smiled.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Aunt Cassie, Irene and Paul are staying over" My mother began.
"Aunt Cassie and Paul will be taking the guest room and you and Irene will be sharing your room" She finished.
Are you frigging kidding me?
I gave a quick nod, attempting to come up with a plan.
There's no way I was sharing a room with her.
I'd rather go to hell and be Lucifer's bitch.
"So, Y/N. What do you do now?" My uncle Phil asked, looking over at me as he began eating his turkey.
"I'm a detective" I answered, hoping he'd stop talking to me.
I just wanted to get through this without socialising.
"What's it like then?" He asked, continuing the conversation.
"Interesting" I shrugged, poking at my food, not feeling entirely hungry.
Luckily, my uncle and uncle in law began talking about whatever men talk about and my mom, Irene and Aunt were having a conversation about cooking.
Slowly, I climbed out of my chair, making sure not to make a noise. Once I was out of the room, I darted upstairs and headed to my room.
As soon as I entered my room, I headed to my window, lifting it open. Carefully, I place my foot up onto the wood below it and hoisted myself up onto the loose bricks and sat on the roof.
Nobody knew I could sit up here, so it would be virtually impossible for someone to find me.
Dangling my feet, I pulled out my phone to facetime John.
It rang for a few moments before he picked up.
"Hey, Y/N!" He smiled, waving at the camera.
Seconds later, Sherlock entered the frame, his hair messy and papers in his hand.
"Hey" I smiled, catching Sherlocks attention.
"Hello" He said, turning his attention back to the paper.
"Case?" I asked John, to which he nodded.
"Damnit, I wanna come back" I chuckled sadly.
"You will be soon." John sighed, looking at the screen.
"Say, where are you? I can see the sky, are you outside?" He asked.
Looking behind me, I looked up at the sky.
It was a cloudless sky, the sun shining brightly.
"Oh yeah, I'm on the roof" I laughed, turning the camera round to show my feet dangling off the edge.
"That's dangerous, you should get down" Sherlock stated, not looking up from his papers, as he moved to the other side of the room, presumably to put them up.
"I've done this before, I'll be fine" I said, moving back so I could lay down on the roof and look up at the sky, placing my phone beside me.
"It's so boring. I'm scared to eat anything that I don't make in case I die" I joked, hearing John laugh.
"You'll be home in less than a week" John said, smiling.
"If I make it" I laughed, staring up at the sky.
"Have you eaten?" John asked, sipping his drink.
"Not since last night" I shrugged, sitting back up to face the camera.
"You should eat something" John said, making me laugh.
"That would require moving and going to buy something. I'd rather not" I giggled, looking at John who had a small smile on his face.
"I still think you should sass them" I heard Sherlock say from off screen.
"Thanks for the advice but, I don't wanna die" I said, repeating my text from earlier today making him chuckle.
"Aren't you meant to be socialising?" John asked, glancing up at Sherlock who was doing god knows what.
"I ran off while they were eating. I doubt they'll notice" I shrugged, thinking for a moment.
"I really need a reason to leave, I can't stand it here" I sighed, laying on my stomach, hoping to get comfortable.
"Don't do anything stupid" Sherlock said, as if he was reading my mind.
"What like put myself in hospital?" I joked, even though that's what I was thinking.
"That is a terrible idea, you'd have to stay longer"
"It'd stop me socialising though"
"You're obsessed with death and injuries lately" John chuckled, remembering my joke about poising me.
"What can I say? They make me feel like it" I laughed, listening to the neighbours' dogs bark at each other.
"I should probably go, try and get through this hell" I smiled.
Pausing for a second after I hung up, I decided to lay down and enjoy the peace.
The cloudless sky was relaxing, birds chirping and the atmosphere relaxing. The warm heat gazing upon me, it was different compared to the rainy streets of London.
"Y/N!" I heard a voice yell, making me open my eyes and quickly scramble back into my room.
As soon as I landed on the floor, my bedroom door swung open.
"There you are!" My mother gasped dramatically as if I was missing.
"What happened! We were in the middle of lunch" She sighed, looking over at me.
"Sorry, I just wasn't feeling too good" I lied, running a hand through my knotted hair.
My mother sighed, looking over at me as if she was assessing me.
Luckily, because of the awful weather in England, I was significantly paler than I was when I lived here.
"If you're not feeling too good, maybe you should stay up here." She said, sighing as I nodded.
"Call if you need anything" She said, before heading back downstairs.
As soon as the door closed, I began to silently cheer.
"Great" I smiled, jumping onto my bed and grabbing my old laptop.
I decided to text John in hope to get in on the case they were working on.
'Email me the case details'
A few minutes later, my phone beeped with a reply.
Did he just send me a kiss?
I chuckled to myself as I opened my email to see all the case details.
Cause of death: Asphyxiation
Details: Young woman found bleeding in a bath tub. Announced dead upon scene. A knife was found on the floor but there were no known prints on the object. Bloody footsteps were found walking out of the motel room. (Size 9)
Stab to the lower abdomen, throat slit. Evidence of a struggle.
I decided to do a search for her online, running through all her known records.
She was using an alias, that was evident and it was covered up well, only someone who knew what they were dong would be able to find out.
She was a hacker, that was evident in her records.
She had recently hacked into a server for some people called The Stynes.
I did a search for the name and only one link came up.
It was a news article about a recent murder by someone claiming to be an optician.
The so-called murder was a Styne.
Satisfied with my work, I emailed it all to John and shut down my laptop ready to take a nap before Irene took my bed.
Once I had changed out of my clothes and climbed into my bed, my phone dinged.
It was a text from Sherlock.
Chuckling to myself, I quickly typed out a reply before silencing my phone and placing it on charge.
I woke a few hours later to a knock on my door.
"Come in" I called, rubbing the sleep from my eyes to see my mother.
"Everyone is getting ready for bed if you want to grab your covers for tonight and make yourself comfortable on the floor" She said, to which I nodded.
I had no intention of sleeping in the same room as Irene, we both knew that.
Throwing my duvet off me and placing it neatly back onto the mattress, I headed out into the hallway to grab the spare covers we kept for nights like these.
Whenever Irene would come over, she would always take my bed and I would take the floor.
Throwing the duvet on the floor, I watched as Irene climbed into my bed, a smirk on her lips as she made herself comfortable.
"Goodnight, girls" Cassie said, walking into my room.
"Goodnight" Irene and I both said, waving to Cassie as she left the room.
It was around 2 in the morning when Irene finally fell asleep.
Quietly, I grabbed the covers and pillow I was supposed to be sleeping on and headed to my window.
Throwing the sheets up, I prepared to catch them in case they fell, luckily, they didn't. I grabbed my phone, before climbing up after them.
Carefully, I laid out the duvet flat on the ground, placing the pillow on top of and laying down.
It was around 8am back in London and I decided to shot John a text.
It took a couple of minutes before I got a reply.
'Yeah, why are you? Isn't it night over there?'
'You're not sleeping on the roof, are you?'
'Would it make you feel better if I said no?'
John didn't reply, instead I received a text from Sherlock.
I smiled at his obvious concern, before sending him a reply.
Once I placed my phone beside me, I made myself comfortable and stared up at the night sky.
Stars littered the sky, each glowing in their own magical way. The moon shone brighter than any of the stars. Full moons were always spooky, although I had probably just watched too many Supernatural shows.
In the distance, you could hear the loud chatter of people just leaving bars and see the flashing lights of various police cars.
I made sure to set an alarm for early next morning so I could sneak in, just before everyone woke up.
I was so glad when I woke up, I only had one day left before I headed home.
Irene and I had barely spoke or argued with was good, although she was constantly looking over at me and smirking, so she was obviously planning something.
The day went surprisingly fast and before I knew it, we were eating lunch.
"Everyone! Irene decided to cook her own special meal, it looks amazing!" My mom gasped, watching as Irene balance three plates on each arm, handing them out to each of us.
"These look amazing, darling" Her mom gasped, looking over at her daughter, pure admiration in her eyes. Something my mother never gave to me.
It was around thirty minutes into our meal when I felt something wrong with me, I was suddenly his with a wave of nausea and I ran to the toilet, but not before seeing Irene's smirk.
As I leant over the toilet I knew something was wrong immediately.
The sick didn't smell like your usual sick, it had an awful smell.
It took me a moment before I realised.
Immediately I did what I knew I had to do.
"911, what's your emergency?" The operator asked.
"I-I've been poisoned" I whispered, leaning against the wall when a sudden dizzy spell hit me.
"Where are you ma'am?" The operator asked, tapping something on her keyboard.
Quietly, I gave her my address before falling back against the wall, my vision going black.
