Friday Night
I’m not much for going out late on Friday or Saturday nights anymore. I live in a hipster neighborhood that everyone wants to go to on the weekend. Makes it hard if you live here. But in the Fall everything starts to calm down a little bit. So last night I went to dinner with friends at Kaze at 7:30pm and then grabbed Holtman Donuts on the way home. The streets were packed and the neighborhood had such an energized vibe. Oh and the food and company were top-notch.

Holtman’s Donut food review.
If you are downtown and looking for sweets, look no further than Holtman’s. You get to watch them make the donuts (an added bonus) which is awesome since you probably will stand in line. This time around I was feeling adventurous, so I bought a dozen for $13, high, but I wanted to taste a lot of different types. Most donuts are $1-2. Here’s my take:
Maple bacon: amazing, tasted like delicious buttery pancakes w/ bacon already cooked in
Blueberry: normally my fav, but this one was just ok, not as flavorful as I’d hoped
Lemon filled: Nice & fluffy, great flavor on the fill
Red Velvet: nice and light, great flavor w/o being over powering. Only thing that would make it better is cream cheese icing (hint, hint)
Twist (or tire or whatever the light donut version is called): the star of the show! It was so light and airy that it will be my new go to and I only ordered it because it was visually interesting.
Glazed & sprinkle topped: great take on the classics, I always appreciate how consistently delicious their donuts are.
Give them a try, these donuts will make you a believer!
