The pretense of Erin paying any attention to her food dissipates entirely.
She sets down her fork alongside a meal she’s barely touched, and wonders how she does it without a single tremor.
More. How MUCH more? Goodness gracious – there’s not a lot of Erin as it is.
She pushes. She urges. And yet… nothing quite gives.
And when she thinks about Holtzmann, and how much she gives initially, it’s a little too much than Erin has ever been accustomed to.
There is no easy medium between the two of them, and it offsets Erin’s orbit ever so slightly.
You and me? She isn’t BLIND. She isn’t STUPID. She’s seen you, you wonderful creature; she’s seen your HEART. Your potential, and what that could possibly mean. Erin’s alarmingly perceptive to the quiet way you navigate her sometimes. It’s different from the cold silence she often pays you in return, which is odd.
How much distance do you need her to put between the two of you before you see the whole picture of what she could do to something that’s as bright as you are?
Aware of Holtz encroaching minutely on that distance, Erin pushes her plate aside. She barely remembers what was on it, or why she’d agreed to leave. (This is, of course, a running theme with her.) Quietly, carefully. I’ve thought, I guess. Yes. Probably overthought it. ❛ I work with you… ❜ She reaches a little farther; poises her fingers just a breath away from Holtzmann’s arm. ❛ I see you every day. I’ve… not got a good track record when it comes to dating colleagues. ❜
Because they use. Erin is useful, and she’s always made herself useful. She does give – GAVE. Something gave in her. Until there was very little left. Erin holds on to what there is, though. She goes for it.
❛ I could disappoint you very easily. If the more I’ve got isn’t enough. I have, though... thought about it. ❜ For the distance in her smile it doesn’t quit reach her eyes. ❛ Always good things.❜
@holtzoween just went for it, shit.
