“ tell me i have nothing to worry about ” (can be jealousy, worry, or both i'm not picky hehe)
It hurt him to see her there, lying in the hospital bed. She was clean, her hair washed and combed, no dirt on her face, just small cuts and bruises decorating her body. Yet again, he cursed the war, cursed the innocents that got caught in the middle. Not that Rita was exactly innocent, but she trod the thin line between both parties. It was difficult. She was like a tightrope walker, fighting for balance, and sometimes, sometimes she slipped. And this happened.
He didn’t like to see the fear in her bright blue eyes, the way her lips twisted downwards. Moody wasn’t sure if it was the meds she was on making her more honest, or whether she was truly scared enough to beg for his reassurance. Either way, it hurt him.
“You have nothing to worry about,” he said softly, brushing her hair out of her face in a tender gesture.
He made to leave then, to let her rest, but she grabbed his hand. She didn’t say anything, but her eyes pleaded silently with him, saying what she couldn’t bring her lips to.
He gently squeezed hers reassuringly and moved back to beside the bed. Lowering the one side of it, he waited while she moved over a bit before lying beside her, on top of the blankets, mindful not to jostle anything too much.
“Go to sleep,” he said softly as she laid her head on his chest. His fingers stroked her hair soothingly.
“You have nothing to worry about.”
