Unpopular ship time: Natsu x Sorano?

Ah boy - this one. I’m literally involved in a joint project with this as one of the main ships. So, story canon aside, let’s see what happens.

Sorano’s another older girl and one of the survivors of the Tower. Unfortunately, she and a few others were taken by Brain and molded into the Oracion Seis. So yeah, she’s pretty dark despite being very attractive. Before the timeskip, she was a foil for Lucy as they were both Celestial Wizards and of course shew as the one who killed Karen, Loki’s previous owner and we had that entire plot thread to deal with. After the time-skip, I can’t help in noticing slight parallels to Ultear. Whether or not it was forshadowing of OS joining up with CS, can’t say.

Not a real fan of her short-hair phase, but I dig her with long hair. Her outfits after the timeskip come off as having the same aesthetic of a mafioso girl (which she technically is). There’s also the matter of her personality: playful and teasing to be sure, but generally not in a good way. And yes, she apparently likes sex quite a bit. All in all, she’s a very worldly young woman. Her psyche has taken some damage over the years, which might lead her to become very dependent if she was in a serious relationship. Sorano has a lot of baggage despite her faux cheerful demeanor so this one would be pretty darn close to Jerza’s redemption dynamic. She’s gotten used to being the bad girl and may even like some aspects of it so instead of being redeemed, I see Sorano as being a mild corrupter. (Ooooh~)

Usually it’s the other way around but if Natsu were to say ‘fall from grace’ and she was there to snatch him up, the world would be very different. I do think that she’d want to sleep with him just because she’s curious, but Natsu really isn’t like that thanks to his ‘upbringing’. Since she can’t overpower him, she has to tempt him. Ironically, also thanks to his upbringing and Lucy, he can handle female nudity just fine - it’s when they are flirty is when he gets into trouble and Sorano would be a master at it. Unlike Ultear, who’d stop shy of the mark, Sorano would go all the way. (”I want you to put your ‘fire’ in my belly, got it?”)

Thing is, this would also open her up to being vulnerable as well and Natsu is very good at finding chinks in any armor - conscious or not. She doesn’t trust him, she wants to use him to make herself feel better about how she ended up. After all, if such a goodie-goodie like Natsu fell, then she can’t be blamed too badly, right?

However, like every other person around him, Natsu will start to affect her. She starts to trust him more and more, even more than her own crew of the Oracion Seis because he has something that the others don’t - innocence. Even fallen, Natsu retains his usual outlook on life (if not tempered just slightly) and that is something that will attract Sorano to him. Sure, she keeps going back to him because he fulfills her physical need like no other, but the emotional side, she’d resist as long as she could until it crumbles away in a crying fit when she realizes that despite how messed up she is, Natsu has grown to care about her in that way, and to make matters worse, she feels the same way.

“I knew better, I really did but I just had to be curious… ‘Play with fire, you’re gonna get burned’.” Sorano looked into Natsu’s sleeping face, his expression relaxed and without a care, his arm wrapped around her body possessively. She smiled as she placed her head back against his chest as both his body heat and heartbeat lulled her to sleep…

“Burn me some more, Natsu…”

Of course, this is just one way to look at Natsu x Sorano but I think this would be the most interesting route to take with them. :)
