You know I’m gonna step on your toes like I always do." Erza: "Then I shall simply step on yours in return, as I always do. It’s a rhythm we’ve perfected, isn't it?" Natsu: "Fine, Just try to look out for me so I don't trip and take down the flower girl this time." Erza: "Deal. Now lead. And try to keep your hands off my hair this time. It took three hours to pin." Natsu: "No promises. You know I like it better when it’s messy anyway."

natsu & cana parallels have me feeling kinda crazy...both of them have almost the exact same motivation for wanting to be s-class; natsu thinks that he'll meet igneel again if he does, cana believes it's the only way she'll be worthy of being gildarts' daughter. natsu had from the very beginning what cana desperately wanted: gildarts' love and attention. cana ends the series while having what natsu can never have again: a father who is alive and well.

Cana could have been a great sister-figure to Natsu, and not just to Wendy. Almost nothing would have to change in their current dynamics with other people either - its just that their situations with their respective fathers would be something that only they get to share.
