          Every decision Chace makes he feels as if he makes blindly. Never quite leaping but rather stumbling—winding up in situations predicted and entirely avoidable, had he only had the nerve to make a stand. Instead he lets life guide him as life does, intervening only on the most rare of occasions. Today had been one of those days. He could’ve offered Beatrice a rain-check; fake an illness or blame it on work, and done what he’d really wanted to. But he lets life take the reins, and he stays in the backseat. It isn’t until the day comes to a close, with every outside element settling in for the night, that he dares. And dare he does.

         “ Something like that. ”   The door slams shut behind them, and Chace’s back finds support against the wooden frame. Bennett kept close, but never close enough.   “ Perhaps I’ll make a habit out of it then. Because had I known it’d be this easy—your whole flat would’ve looked like a bloody flowery. ”
