I spent Tuesday afternoon on the 12th floor of Nichols Tower in Homan Square with the brilliant and hilarious young people of SAIC’s Early College Program course, “Inside Innovative Minds.” After discussing relationships between identity and place, chance and choice, and equity and empathy, I led a mini-workshop called “Alter-Ego: Who Might I Be If I Were Not Me?", which involved exercises like anagramming zip codes, imagining alternate selves, and mapping possible futures.

Thanks to the teens of “Inside Innovative Minds” for embarking on this creative journey on such a beautiful day, and to co-instructors Ryan Coffey and Udita Upadhyaya for inviting me to share my practice!
