Just like the removal of the homebutton of the iPhone, Appls is seeking to insert it's sleek design language into the "real" world. "Physical knobs are an eyesore. They can be easily replaced by a gesture, like a swipe", says implementation operation director, Ron Keyhole. Reactions so far have been wild, from haters to lovers.
