Books I recently checked out of the library

Been trying to read the books that have been on my list for a while. So I got a few of those.

Homegrown Magic by Jamie Pacton and Rebecca Podos- Cozy fantasy with magic and gay characters is a genre I really like and appreciate. I think this book has been on my list for quite a bit. It seems like the authors write a lot of YA but luckily this book does not feel like it. It's cute so far. The two main characters are already into each other as they knew each since they were young. I guess the tension will be whenever the parents of Yael will come get them as they are an heir.

Autonomous by Annalee Newitz- I know this book has been on my list for quite some time. I really like Annalee's work and I surely know I will enjoy this book as well. I like the premise of this book. Also I like how Annalee writes robot characters.

I Met a Traveler in an Antique Land by Connie Willis- This hasn't been on my list for as long. It's a short book and I just so happened to be in the latter half of the alphabet. Perhaps this will be the Connie Willis book that will wow me. She has good concepts in her books.

Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao- Now this book has been on my list for quite some time. I like the premise of this book. Its sounds intriguing and somewhat new to me.

Arch-Conspirator by Veronica Roth- Veronica Roth seems to do a good job at writing books that aren't YA. This is a book that has been on my radar for quite some time. It's a short book so it won't take me long to read it. Who doesn't want to read a retelling of Antigone?

Homegrown Magic by Jamie Pacton and Rebecca Podos - 4/5 - Queer Cozy Fantasy Romance

The cover of Jamie Pacton and Rebecca Podos's Homegrown Magic caught my eye while scrolling on Instagram one day. I've read one of Pacton's books before, The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly, and have been following her since. She was so sweet, she sent me book art! The cover for Homegrown Magic is deliciously cottagecore. It's green, it has a cat, there are potion bottles, flowers, and strawberries! Plus, the two main characters are presented like cameo pendants. Lisa Perrin did an amazing job! I had not known about Podos before spotting this cover. Given how great From Dust, a Flame also was, I'm quite grateful! 

In Homegrown Magic Margot Greenwillow is a skilled garden witch with her parents' baggage hanging over her. Her grandmother, Fern, was a famous garden witch, one that a community, Bloomfield, built up around. Despite Fern being down-to-earth, Margot's parents got into high society and then wracked up debts. They indebted themselves to the Clauneck family, a family of bankers with capitalistic control over the kingdom. After Fern died, they promised Margot could make a potion that would give everyone magic. When a few years have passed and the deadline is approaching, Yael Clauneck stumbles into Margot's life. They were childhood friends, but Yael has been busy in the capital disappointing their parents and being a flirt. The Clauneck heir ran away hoping for adventure but got the seeds for romance and self-discovery instead.
