So the prompt for this one was 'Island' but I felt I couldn't do our island as it being called 'Ellan Vannin' this could cause some confusion. I ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at other islands around Ireland and found the Skellig islands, and now I'm looking at booking a holiday to County Kerry. This island is Sceilig Bheag (little skellig) and can be seen like this from Sceilig Mhór (big skellig) "Skellig" is derived from the Gaeilge (Irish gaelic) word sceilig, which means splinter of rock. It's like an Irish Machu Pichu (Peru) mixed with Skara Brae (Orkney) But is apparently not neolithic only 5th C. IIt's also thought to have been the home of the The Tuatha Dé Danan, so like an Irish Mount Olympus. Oh it ticks so many boxes. #island #skelligislands #homeofthegods #discoverunder1k #illustration #flashcard #language #learning #manx #homeschool #isleofman #manxgaelic #gaelic #gaelg #gaeilge (at Skellig Islands) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNhBnEmqRu7/?utm_medium=tumblr
