All the political debates and struggles that play out in contemporary Western societies (whether these regard such biopolitical social concerns as gay marriage, transgender rights, access to abortion, etc) seem to express a furthering of diversity and heterogeneity. To rightfully acknowledge those bodies that are subjugated, terrorized, and abused. However, there is a sense that these struggles for social diversity and 'progression' are complicit (at times openly concord) with the logic of Neoliberal advanced capitalism. Rather than counter a dominant culture of subjugation and repression, what is really is at stake is a 'buying-into' of culture of homogeneous normalisation, where one gains access to, but is fundamentally subject to the machinations of advanced capitalism. Of course there will be some measure of complicity, yet, in regards to how these struggles are depicted via such media platforms as Facebook or Twitter, one is struck by with the feeling that the argument consists of "well, we just want to have the same rights and privileges as everyone else" (i.e. homocentric). Is that really what we want?? Why not something different altogether?
