7. Who was your favorite character to write in Honest Reflections?
No brainer - absolutely Declan Lynch herself. I already really loved Declan in canon, especially after CDTH came out. But when presented with the inspiration to explore her as a trans character, I had to try. It’s been very explorative for me, as a writer while being nervous about writing trans content, even though I’m personally non-binary. At the same time, also running wild in the post CDTH timeline while we wait a YEAR to get the next book. What happens when they go to the Barns? Who does she want to be now that the world is broken? What happened to Adam? What if Declan met the Crying Club? I decided to just run with her, and I have no regrets.
On a funny note, shout out to how I’m enjoying the five minutes Gillian got to be in chapter, and how gay she is.
9. Which idea came to you first?
So, the original idea came from the TRC BB server, where someone shared a post about lesbians loving Declan, and then we took it down a more serious path with Silyara laying the groundwork for Declan being a lesbian, being trans. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to explore it more with this fic. So the first scene came from that conversation and was literally the “””oneshot””” I was going to write about it.
And then the next idea, Declan hunting down Adam herself to find out why he didn’t answer Ronan’s texts, inadvertently meeting the Crying Club, was an idea that @effwit and I giggled about for hours until it became a real thing.
Ask me if it’s still a ONESHOT. (Spoiler alert, it’s not. T_T)
