Originating from Hong Kong, Honolulu Cafe opened it first Singapore branch last year at Orchard Centrepoint. Sis bought these flaky Egg Tarts (S$1.70 each) which is said to have 192 layers in its pastry. Though the crispy and flaky shell had a strong buttery fragrance, the egg custard wasn’t creamy enough.

new hk style cafe found while we were shopping at the mall, so we decided to give it a try because it seems to be rather popular and has a line during meal hours.
the menu do have quite a variety of hk style snacks and dishes, so we ordered polo bun with butter, egg tart, roasted pork and dry wanton noodle to share, just the few famous and must have when eating hk food.
but we were very disappointed at the food which is kinda sad. the egg tart and polo bun isn’t fragrant and crispy as i expect them to be and they taste rather bland too. the roasted pork was okay, but really just average and the portion is small. the noodles are just unbearable, too soft and dry and tasteless. wanton isn’t good as well.
wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and i wonder what’s wrong with everyone’s taste bud as the restaurant is so crowded when the food isn’t even good and it was rather pricey for such low quality food and service. definitely stay away!
