Reading list for my research
So for the Honours Programme of my education, I’m doing a research on self-assessment in higher art education. But honestly, I don’t know anything about the subject yet, only that it really sparks my attention…
So I’ve done some searching, and have compiled a reading list for myself, to really dive into the topic! All of these are pretty long articles, but I hope I can make time to read, read and READ.
Not only have I found sources on self-assessment, I have also found sources on underlying topics (assessment in general, the value of higher art education and the value of the arts and of artists)
These are the titles in my reading list (so you can see what kind of stuff I’m going to read!)
On the value of art/artists
Whose value is it anyway? A neo-institutionalist approach to articulating and evaluating artistic value
Good art, bad art – what is a ‘good’ drawing
The place of artists in society – what good are they, anyway?
On the value of higher art education
A question of values: why we need art and design in higher education
Historical analysis of assessment in art-education
Art teachers opinions of assessment criteria
Towards developmental self-assessment in the visual arts
Zen and the art of peer and self-assessment in interdisciplinary, multi-media, site-specific arts practice
A game plan for self-assessment
NEA’s low marks in self-assessment
The American Idol effect: are students good judges of their creativity across domains?
Well, let’s get to reading!
