6. hugging headcanon

AWHH good question...hideo isn’t like, the most affectionate person. he used to be a couple of years ago, but he’s started closing off more since all his friends moved on from nxt. it’s getting better since he finally got to join the main roster, but he’s still kinda reserved! he doesn’t hug people unless they hug him first, but he hugs tight enough to make breathing an issue haha. he’s a little touch-starved just in terms of Having Friends To Be Affectionate Towards. just a little bit! his calibrations are off, and sometimes painful, but he’s doing his best to readjust. 

17. soft spot headcanon

if you’re alright with finn, you’ll probably be alright with hideo. finn’s started introducing him to folks on the main roster who don’t know him, who maybe got through nxt before he recovered from injury, who maybe just never met him, and hideo is skeptical but trusting of finn’s judgement. 

he’s also kinda got a soft spot for people who are terrible dipshits lol, like, if you’re an antagonistic smartass then hideo can give it right back to you and he trusts those people as friends more than most. if you’re going rough and trusting hideo to shoot right back without any weird emotional response, you’re not patronizing him or treating him like he’s made of eggshells, and he appreciates that. like. finn introduces him to dean and they have a pretty intense rude standoff before dean grins and holds a hand out for a fistbump and hideo just relaxes immediately and Bunps him. it’s weird but hideo’s adapting. i worded this paragraph weird i hope i got that right

18. favorite possession headcanon

he’s got a cool baseball hat that he’s fond of! it’s one of finn’s old hotspur caps that hideo borrowed awhile back and that just kinda became his. he wore it on flights over his face to ward peyton and billie off and they’d steal it and tease him when he tried to get it back. finn would let him wear it when they were out and it was cold and hideo didn’t bring a hat because It’s Too Cold Out You Need A Hat Take This. he wore that hat the first time he got to mingle with the 205 roster backstage before joining, and that’s when it hit him that he’d finally Made It out of nxt. it’s not much, but it’s comforting, and if finn ever asks for it back finally, it gives him a bartering tool to give finn a reason to talk to hideo. yknow how it goes!
