I might have forgotten to mention that I wrote a short follow-up article to last year's Homestuck article.
...Well, it's not so much a follow-up as quick-n-dirty account of a recent story arc, but hey, I gotta make my "official HU contributor" article quota somehow!
Speaking of, is anyone reading anything good, comics or manga-wise?
So now that it's been about 10 days and my article on Pacific Rim + Attack on Titan is almost off the front page, I figured it'd be a good time to share it! Haha. It's a little bit about Pacific Rim but more about Attack on Titan. I know lots of people around here really love Pacific Rim so I had a hard time writing a critique... hope you guys will forgive me for the less than stellar review.
In other news, been messing around with summer-jam playlists so one of those soon, maybe. Or I could continue to lurk and not post anything, that would work too...
So the big news is I got a job! Canvassing against hydro-fracking in New Jersey, It's not a permanent gig, no matter how much my boss tries to spin it that way. I'm having fun, though, and learning a lot, and getting paid to exercise.
Mostly I'm coming to terms with how much looks, dress and body language really matter. I mean, I knew they mattered, but now exactly how *much* they matter can be quantified (by how much money I can raise in a day). So that's weird.
Anyway, I have a precarious, badly paid, somewhat interesting part-time job. That puts in me in a good position to tell you about the article I wrote for HU about Saint Young Men - the manga where Jesus and Buddha share a cheap apartment in Tokyo - and Japanese freeter. \0/!

Tis my article on the second volume of Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's Phonogram. Technically it's a part of HU's comics and music roundtable, which is my excuse for taking two whole months to write the follow-up I promised when I reviewed the first volume all the way back in February, haha.
Some other "comics and music" articles I've enjoyed from the roundtable are this one on Iron Man, this one on Jim Crow, this one on Peanuts, this one on Superman, and this rant(?) on... black metal? MLP: Friendship is Magic? Something like that, anyway.
Tis my essay on the first volume of Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie's comic about Britpop. The author RT'd it with a nice note! Now I'm really feeling the pressure to write something good about the second volume, haha.

Oh yeah, and I wrote this article for The Hooded Utilitarian about the sound theoretical underpinnings of Quentin Tarantino's anti-slavery genre flick.
I'm currently writing an article about Phonogram as it's the only non-manga comic I read this year and feel moderately-qualified to talk about, aha (thanks Sabina!).
