Hookafina Chocomint Review
Hookafina is a company striving for excellence in a market with plenty of competitors. They stand by their product and on their website challenge the smoker to judge their tobacco against the others. So let's see if their Chocomint shisha is what they are making it out to be.
The name of this shisha was enough for me to want to rip into it and start smoking immediately. An odd case because I haven't been a fan of other chocolate attempts. Then I opened the container and was hit with an intoxicating scent reminiscent of a peppermint patty.
The smell of mint isn't overpowering though as it hides behind the scent of chocolate. That's not to say that the chocolate scent is overly strong just dominant. The tobacco itself is cut into roughly small-medium sized pieces, moist as can be and had no stems.
Hookafina has found the perfect balance of chocolate to mint in my opinion. Neither taste is too strong or underwhelming. The smoke is smooth but not chilled from the mint, something I usually crave for but here it works. This is because instead of being a spearmint it is more like a peppermint or candy cane flavor.
The chocolate flavor is accurate to the smell and tastes like a nice creamy milk chocolate. The flavors blend together in an unexpected but impressive manner. I never found myself tasting one over the other, something that is not very common in mixed shishas. Overall the taste itself isn't overwhelming and won't leave you tired of the flavor by the end of the session.
Chocomint held up to the test of how long the flavor and smoke can last pretty well. I was easily able to get great tasting and puffy clouds for up two rounds of coals, roughly 2 hours. After the two hour mark the flavor started to die down but clouds were still being produced. Tasteless but sizable clouds were produced for another hour. This isn't going to be the choice if you are looking for a strong buzz but with a flavor like this I don't think you would want that.
Hookafina claimed that I would feel, see and taste the difference. I'm inclined to agree with them. Hookafina definitely developed a great product with their Chocomint shisha. One that I would highly recommend to anyone that likes chocolate or mint, or to anyone who doesn't like them and wants to be proven wrong.
