"We hate 'em" said the well-dressed man who seemingly came down on the dock specifically to inform me of this. I was watching the seals lazily drift next to the fishing pier. "They eat all of the bait fish. They're nasty, they bite and they smell. They aren't endangered. The Indians were right: use their pelts and eat the meat." This fella was clearly not going out to a seal meat dinner nor sleeping under a pelt. Why have the seals shown up with sharks closely behind? The sand bars shifted? Beaches accreted and eroded and homes fallen into the sea? Chatham is a great place to observe the enormous shift in ecology and geology in fast-forward. + + #beaches #hookfishermen #fishingfleet #capecodinsta #climatechange #oceans #sonyalphaa7riii (at Chatham, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0FJ0teH4yO/?igshid=16z0cshz6n9ae
