The minimal chapter
So as the heading suggests I am starting a new chapter in my life and that is adapting minimalist lifestyle. I know it’s not going to be easy rather it is going to be quite difficult for me. I have borderline hoarding problem. I have drawers and bags full of things I don’t need or which are broken or just there because I have problem with letting go. Its not only about things tho. I have this problem with other areas of my life too and I have started working on it. Meanwhile in this process of learning to let go I came across minimalism. I am not the kind of person who follows trends thus I really wasn’t aware that there is something called minimalism and that its become a huge thing past few years. The more I read about it the more I started gravitating towards the idea. To be honest I am amazed by this idea and I desperately want to give it a try. I know it is going to be a huge challenge for me and I still want to give it a try. So my first attempt towards adapting minimalist lifestyle is by changing my wardrobe. Before I talk about what I am planning I want to mention a few things just to give you some context. I am living in India and our typical wardrobe is as vibrant and diverse as our culture. So to be a minimalist in India while adapting to Indian clothing and culture can be challenging and I am proud of people who are able to do it. So I am still trying to wrap my head around the idea of Indian minimalism. Sadly couldn’t find much to read on it. Doesn’t matter tho I can find a way out I am sure of that. I have decided that I will adapt to minimalism slowly and not get rid of things all at once because I know that’s not possible for me. I can do this but I will need time. I also think that my professional requirement s can be an issue here since I work in a field where you have to preserve records for certain timespan before you discard and have to wear certain type of work attire which includes more of Indian and ethnic clothing than corporate or western wear. Why it makes things challenging? I think it is a challenge for someone like me who already doesn’t know much about fashion or mixing up outfits. In conclusion having an Indian minimalist wardrobe is a challenge according to me. But its a challenge worth taking. So I am planning to start a small blogging journey which will be a great way of documenting this experience I think.
Wish me luck ;)
