mahiru approaches chiaki with a bright smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. she's already got a handwritten love letter in an envelope, but she's especially proud of the plush she's holding in her hand. "look, chiaki-chan! it's mario! i bought him for you, for your birthday!" she couldn't find kirby, and mario was the only other character she recognized...
mahiru’s insistence on supporting her in her gaming habits, despite the fact that she’s generally clueless, is absolutely adorable. more than that, though, even when her girlfriend fumbles the delivery, she knows it means she actually cares enough to get involved in chiaki’s interests. it’s not just because she’s trying to be polite, as it is with some people.
so she accepts the mario plushie with a bright smile on her face, hugging him tightly to her chest. mahiru likely doesn’t know, but he’s one of the newer models, based off super mario odyssey, with cappy sitting on top of his head. it’s very cute, in other words.
“thank you, mahiru…” she accepts the letter as well; this, she’ll read in a moment. but before that, she has another order of business. it’s also white day, which is traditionally a day for boys to give gifts to the girls in their lives… but neither of them are boys. rather than skip out on the holiday all together, chiaki opted for a more unorthodox approach.
she digs around in her pocket, and pulls out a small box. “i got you something for white day, too… here.” inside the box is a necklace, with a small pendant inlaid with an iridescent opal, polished into an oval shape. it’s simple, not too flashy, much like mahiru’s style, but the small stone is quite beautiful.
