Train of thought

A starter for @hopefooled

“Yasoinaba Station. Train headed for. Yasoinaba Station.”

This was maybe the tenth time she had seen her own train ticket, waiting for the name on it to be spoken on the station speakers. It was a long road from the Iwatodai Station to where she was, but it was the quickest way for her to get to Inaba... Her new...

Her new home.

She hurried inside the train, alongside many people who were probably going to get off at the next train station. Nobody was headed to Inaba. Nobody but her. Yukari put on her headphones (similarly to a friend she made in Gekkoukan) and got inside the train. She closed her eyes for a moment... For this trip, she had prepared a 3-hour long playlist of J-Pop songs, to keep her entertained while on the trip... Then again, the trip was much longer than that.

Time passed, and she found herself skipping many of the songs, picking up her MP3 player and choosing a specific song... She had grown bored. The train was basically empty now, and the greenery on the outside showed that, perhaps, they were closer to the countryside than before. Then again, how many times had she had this thought before..?

But she wasn’t alone. From her seat, she noticed the reflection of another guy, gray (grey?) haired, apparently asleep... She blinked, as she silently changed seats in front of him. He didn’t seem old, maybe... a couple years under her. Considering she lost a year, if he was a high school student, he’d definitely be older than her.

Once in front of him, her MP3 changed to a song she didn’t like. With a frown, she turned to it and began skipping songs, until she got to one she hadn’t heard yet.

solitude feels nice,  she thinks,  embraces the sentiment.  because it's all she can feel,  all she can think of.  how much of an annoyance she is to her so-called friends,  best buddies, team.  a roll of eyes here,  a sigh there,  rise has slowly but surely been picking up on their reactions to the idol.  and while she’s been trying to live by the motto ignorance is bliss,  she’s been secluding herself from the group more and more,  day by day.  thin arms hug her knees to her chest,  tired eyes gazing over the town beneath her.  

the sky is starless,  the night chilly,  but rise still sits on the rooftop,  unable to sort out what her heart truly feels.  the last person she expects to see is yu.  leader.  senpai.  heh.  for reasons unknown to her,  she cannot get herself to smile,  to have that excited sparkle in her eyes whenever he’s around.  the whole playing pretend game can be dropped.  she’s only sparing him a brief glance and a simple,  ‘ it’s pretty late. ’       /   @hopefooled
