     it was a complete lie.   he was oddly loyal to leia organa,  a princess turned rebel leader.   but that wasn’t anything he’d call political...  but then again he was one to blatantly ignore the truth to continue living in his own reality about how he was.

All men delude themselves all their lives. No one is the villain of their own story, or so he had once thought. Life was about controlling the delusion, manipulating it into fitting a proper mold. With authority, a man could force the world to fit his delusion. 

The Senator must already know about delusion though. The Republic was one grand delusion. Hosnian Prime itself was a testament to that. It was an altar upon which the galaxy witnessed the failure of democracy. Inaction in the face of violence was the fatal flaw of freedom, and she suffered its consequences.

“Make all the snide comments you like, they won’t turn back time.”

Nothing could undo the cataclysm. He had stood idle, complicit even as the galaxy bled before him. Nothing will stand in our way. The dreams, the hopes, the futures of countless lives were extinguished, and his delusion justified it to him, in some cruel way.
