#194 虹の雫 / うしとら（栃木） 艶やかなモルトのアロマ漂うラガー。茅ヶ崎のホップマンの7周年ビールで、乾杯からゴクゴク飲めるすっきりとした設計になっている。ボディは軽く、苦味もかなり控えめで、どちらかというとモルトの甘味が前に出ている印象。非常にクリアだ。

If you were to ask her, Kathleen wouldn’t really be able to say what exactly had led to this whole thing.

Summer had come to Hawkins, bringing an endless wave of stifling heat and a daughter who was very much enjoying the fact that her friends no longer were confined to school during the day.

El had been getting up every day at the near crack of dawn, dressed and ready by the time Mike (and occasionally, the rest of the party, as they called themselves) would be outside, ready to whisk El away for fun.

Hopper didn’t like it.

Kathleen made sure to let it happen anyways.

Despite the fact that Kathleen didn’t live with Hopper and El (which annoyed the young teenager to no end), she still made sure that Hopper didn’t completely strangle the fun out of El’s summer. Especially because this was to be her first summer where her friends knew that she was alive and she wasn’t confined to that little cabin in the woods.

Jim liked to grumble that Kathleen was letting El just run wild, but the rules were still in place. No heavily public places and curfew was at a set hour. To Kath, that sounded like a lot less wild than she remembered her teenage summers being.

Either way, she made a point to keep Jim’s mind somewhat off of whatever El could possibly be doing. Since school was out, that meant a lot more of Kathleen’s time was opened up, which led to the creation of a standing weekly lunch date at the police station. Kath would pick up lunch from the nearby diner or would occasionally pack something at home and head over to see Jim.

If she put on a nice summer dress and maybe added a bit more mascara than usual, well that was between her and her bathroom mirror.

They weren’t officially dating, but they weren’t not dating either. They weren’t just friends, but they weren’t romantically involved in a set way. They shared a daughter, but they didn’t share a bed. The true nature of this went unspoken, just like the nature of their feelings. It all felt a little too high school to Kath, but she’d take what she could get. 

Today was giving her a bit more. Again, she wasn’t sure how it happened. She’d caught Jim on his lunch break, shut the door to his office so they could have privacy from the other’s at the station, and pulled the chair on the other side of the desk so they could sit side by side. They’d enjoyed some small talk, a few of Hop’s grumblings about Mike Wheeler, and some nice sandwiches.

And then Kathleen had ended up sat on Hopper’s desk, with the man in question stood between her legs, and they were kissing like a couple of love drunk teenagers.

She wasn’t sure exactly who’d made the first move. Or maybe she did but she was too far gone to recollect it or even care. Her head was spinning as his large hands gripped her waist tightly, skin burning through the thin cotton of her dress. His beard tickled her skin, a little rough at times as their kiss deepened and it felt like her entire being had become a live wire.

Her own arms were tightened around his neck, pulling herself closer, impossibly close to the man who’d become a lot closer than just a friend over these last year or so.

Hop was rough around the edges and so were his kisses as it progressed into something that felt quite akin to a man dying of thirst finally coming across something to drink. Everything about this kiss, about him, about her, burned. It was hot and fiery and it had nothing to do with the sweltering heat that had settled over Hawkins. She felt warm and lightheaded and it had everything to do with the man pressed tightly against her.

The legs that Hopper stood between tightened around him, Kathleen pulling him closer looking for something, anything to be where she was growing to need him most. One of his hands drifted from her waist, fumbling down lower and lower, experienced yet unsure as —

A knock hammered against the door to Jim’s office, causing the two to recoil from each other as if the fire burning between them had gotten to hard to control.

Name: Samantha Leanne Hopper

Gender: Female

General Appearance: Bright smile, brown hair to her shoulders, kind brown eyes, average height.

Personality: Sarcastic, hardheaded, far too intelligent for her own good sometimes. A little abrasive, but softer once you get to know her.

Special Talents: She’s actually really good at puzzles and solving things. Both of her parents are smart and Hopper has a tendency to try and solve the mysteries in Hawkins so that definitely passes on to Sam and she definitely tries to be involved in cases of weird goings on.

Who they like better: Kath. As we saw with Jim and El, he’s clearly not adept to being the most understanding parent. He tries and he’s definitely getting better, but Kath has a softer touch and gives her more freedom than he does.

Who they take after more: Neither, she takes after El. El is 100% the best big sister to Sam and Sam idolizes El when she’s younger and gets that same mischievous spirit as well as a knack for wanting to take on the world and do things for herself.

Personal Head Canon: Literally the biggest trouble maker around. 100% causes problems for Jim as the Chief because she’s just so rebellious it doesn’t reflect that well on him.
