Today is apparently National Teddy Bear Day…
The lads are getting excited about Christmas, but Bush and Horatio aren't entirely sure about Archie's new friend...
The crew of HMS Hotsbear (I’m sorry) have spotted something in the fog and they don’t like the look of it.
Earlier @ariel-seagull-wings suggested that there should be a picture book or cartoon series featuring the Hornblower bears. Naturally, me being me, I had to then produce this.
I’ve deliberately tried to make it look like an old school book illustration, which involved using some different brushes and for once drawing directly onto the tablet. Turns out it’s much easier drawing bears on a screen than people!
“Where are we, Mr Bush? I don’t recognise it.”
“It’s Portsmouth, sir.”
“Really? It looks completely different!”
“Everywhere does now, sir.”
“And what’s that?”
“I believe it’s Spitbank Fort.”
“Funny spot to put a fort, don’t you think?”
“It’s not my place to say, sir.”
“I’m not sure I like these newfangled ships. No guns, no sails, and the food..! Where’s the salt beef and hard tack?”
“I don’t know, William, but I do know one thing.”
“What’s that, sir?”
“They have coffee.. Lots of coffee.”
(I should have taken a photo of Horatio in front of a Costa Coffee sign. Missed a trick there!)
“Where are we now?”
“Yarmouth Castle, I believe.”
“Look, sir: a gun at last! It’s a bit small, though.”
“Seems big enough to me, Mr Bush.”
“Aha! This is more like it. That’s what I call a gun! FIRE!!!”
“Don’t get carried away, Mr Bush; we can’t take it home. Hotspur’s too small, and we don’t have enough gunpowder.”
“Plenty of that here, sir. We could do some serious damage to the French with this!”
“Yes. For goodness’s sake, don’t tell Styles.”
“My lips are sealed. Sir?”
“Yes, Mr Bush?”
“About that gun, sir...”
The lads are off on an adventure...
The boys had a bit of a day out yesterday.
Exploring...
Trying to kep cool in the sun, Horatio taking the approach that only he can...
Horatio, no, you can’t climb in there for a swim!
Honestly, you can’t take him anywhere.
"Why are we raising our hats, Archie?"
"Haven't you heard gentlemen? It's @sanguinarysanguinity 's birthday! All together now: Hip, hip hurrah!"
