hey, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on the Horde squad post-war? Like, did Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio stick together, what about if they met Catra and Adora again? I'm sorry if this is a weird question, I'm just fascinated with the Horde kids and I love your portrayal of them in Hail Mary :)

Oh they definitely stayed together, we saw them with Imp in canon. I personally never got the vibe that they were all involved romantically (and if they do go that way I hope Lonnie starts treating Kyle with more respect first), but they’re still a family. I like to think they reunite with Catra and Adora at some point but I can see them deciding to stay in the Crimson Waste since that’s where a lot of the hybrids are and it looks like that’s where they settled after they defected. The Horde kids are very important to me so I definitely headcanon that they all become friends again outside of the Horde, with less toxic dynamics this time.

technically it was the star sisters who were mentioned as etherians and not the star siblings so they could be different things ig

I guess? But I mean, they’d already picked a place for that sliver of lore and were clearly hoping we’d all forgotten about it. That’s not really my point anyway, I was more speaking to cft’s point that the fandom kinda went nuts over the star siblings and seemed not to mind that the horde squad was shafted, and to how I was disappointed they brought in these brand new characters in a largely irrelevant episode when they could have used that time on the squad. But hey I’ve always been super invested in the squad so that’s more just a personal thing for me. People can like who they like but I’m allowed to be annoyed my favorite side characters were super neglected in the endgame.

I hope Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio get one last hurrah in Season 5, maybe meet up with Adora again...Get the old Horde Squad class reunion ;p Okay perhaps that's asking a bit much but please give me that squad one more time before the show is over.

Oh, I’m certain they will. The crew-ra wouldn’t have given us an episode focused on them if they weren’t invested in their storyline. The triumphant and hopefully more healthy reunion of the whole squad is something I am really looking forward to, and will be disappointed if we don’t get.

I read a new fic today and I gotta say I love it, and I’m gonna rec it. It’s super dark, do not be fooled by the funny title. It’s all about the Horde squad’s dynamics and how authoritarian environments disrupt bonding and fuck with people in general.
