Horf Drama
I did not want horf drama today. And yet.
Roommate took lovely Leo away (temporarily) to visit with a mare or two at another stable. Hopefully, next spring, there will be adorable chunky little Leo-foals. He is so . . majestic.
Hero spent most of the day whinnying and upset (I'm ALOOOOONE oh woe is me). Around 2:00, Roommate came back with the trailer again. This time it contained Nutmeg-goat, her three tiny buddies, and a black and white pony that needs trail lessons.
Hero: ! !! !!!!!!! sniffs pony sniffs pony get kicked by pony
Nutmeg was neither bothered nor particularly happy to be returned to the field. She was pretty happy down at Home Farm, really. Lady and Rosalie were in dog heaven; so many creachurs to sniff!
We walked Hero and Pony out to the far field so she'd know where the water trough is. Nutmeg and her minions started nibbling brush. I went back in the house to have some Quiet Time.
At 3, Roommate came back up to check on the horses, and found that they had gotten out of the far end of the field, where a fallen tree had pushed the wire down. He ran around in a panic, which I shared, trying to find them. Fortunately he was able to track the hoofprints up and around the back of the field in the woods. They hadn't gone far.
Equines confined to the closer pasture, Pony is pissed and standing angrily at the gate, goats unmoved by the drama, me just slightly having a heart attack, Roommate off to the farm supply store to buy a special hitch adapter because his trailer is stuck up above the barn. Jeeeeeeez.
Hopefully we will be able to deal with the downed tree this evening, when my husband gets home. He is helping K move out of her dorm room for summer.
Potato salad. I need some.
