Freaking Out
I’ve been taking Horizant for several years. That has helped my pain tremendously, particularly the neck pain that was causing my migraines. The migraines were so bad that it felt like my head would explode (not exaggerating), and I can recall on multiple occasions asking God why he wouldn’t just let me die because they were so bad. Anyway, I needed to fill it for the first time since switching jobs/health insurance, and I found out today that my insurance does not cover it at all. Without insurance, it is $1300/month because I take 90 pills. With their coupon code, it’s $700. I hate that I ever bitched about paying $200 for it. It’s a shame when I make 75k/year with full benefits and cannot afford one medication, particularly the biggest one that makes it to where I can work. I tried calling my insurance, and they said it wasn’t covered at all. I am going to try and call my doctor tomorrow about it and see what can be done. I know Horizant is part Gabapentin, but that’s not all that’s in it, and it’s extended release. And regular Gabapentin did not help when i tried it before. I’m so fucked.
After 6 months and Bad Side Effects, My Insurance Approved my Medicine!
Ok, so about 6 months ago, I tried the medicine "Horizant" since nothing else worked. When I say this was the miracle drug, I meant it! Unfortunately, soon after that, I outaged my insurance and my new insurance wouldn't pay for until I tried a few other options. I mean, this is an $800 out of pocket medication and I'm nowhere close in my life to be able to afford to pay out of pocket! Well, did that, got bad side effects, on to the next. This last go round, I was positive, as well as my doctor, that Horizant would get approved. Worse possible scenario would be to pay $85 with the discount card and that was ok with me. Well...They said NO! We were so bummed, so she agreed to give me samples every month. Well today, I got a Walgreens alert saying my prescription was ready and it was the Horizant! And it only cost $3! I was so pumped and grateful!! The medical industry is trash! And unfair!
