Profession Synergy
Basically, someone came up with an interesting idea in the discussion. They used Thief as their starting point to describe it and it resembles Guild Wars 1 Secondary Profession system.
The description:
So, you have a thief. He or She is a good thief and you solo well with him/her. But then Anet drops this big patch that changes how every profession reacts and works with every other profession.
All of a sudden, after patching up, you notice a new padlock attached to your Thieves FX ability section.
But its locked.
So you hover over it and it says, "Must be in party to unlock."
Curious, you whisper your friend to come join with you to check this out in sPvP's training area.
Your friend hops on their mesmer and enters the mists, joins up and meets you at the target dummies.
The padlock disappears! oooOOOooo!!!
You hover over the new trait-like buff and it says
Shadow Clones: Dodging creates shadow clones that explode causing blind in a 240 AoE radius
Or something like that.
Your mesmer buddy then gets the same thing happen to them:
Power Thievery: The Mesmer will confuse the target enemy and steal one of its skills. That stolen skill will be set into cool down. The next time the Mesmer player presses the Auto Attack Button, the Mesmer will use the stolen Enemy Skill and gets 1 negative condition removed
You test the skills out and think its AWESOME! but begin to wonder what other professions would be like.. so your friend switches to a necromancer.
When they meet up with you, they tell you that they have a 6th necro skill, stating that the skill says: When using this, the Necromancer will create some Portals to the Underworld, letting some Shadows attack with Shadow Steps foes, that stand in their near. Those summoned Shadows will stay for only short time, as long the portals don’t get closed or the duration of the skill runs out first
Basically that was/is the idea. Buff related, and somewhat new skills based on being one profession and(to my knowledge) being in close proximity to the other profession for synergy(as that would make the most sense. I wouldn't expect you to have 4 different synergies.. unless using multiple classes improved the synergies.. idk)
Discussions like this are awesome. You can tell how its similar to GW1 just due to it being like you are gaining a second profession, but not at the same time.. The more I think about it, The more I like the idea!! I linked the post at the top of this
