Travel south of Vienna and you’ll find castles, endless number of trees and steep cliffs, but you’ll also find these incredible horses.🐴 I found Simone and her horses through @airbnbexperiences and I just knew my friends and I had to do this while in Vienna. I grew up riding horses - my parents actually have horses still- and I had been going to so many cities and needed a slice of nature so here we were, booking a horse riding experiencing...It. Was. Today was my first lesson where I direct reined the whole time instead of neck reining and really working on the proper position in the saddle, especially keeping my hands low. Although we had a few mess ups I’m so happy with how D and I worked together today, I think it was our best ride yet. He truly is an amazing horse and I’m so lucky to get to ride him. I even got to take a pair of reins home so that I could tie them to something and practice with them! . My first lesson in a dressage saddle was today!! 🙌🏻 I had to grip part of the saddle pad to help keep my balance at first, but hopefully I will get better with it as time goes on. I was kind of nervous about totally losing my balance or leaning back too but it actually went way better then I expected! D and I did a condensed dressage test because we only had half the arena, and he was awesome as usual! 💗🐴. So yesterday was my first day riding on a Tuesday! I got to lead D out to the arena and we did some obstacle courses to practice my direct reining. I also got to try ladder reins for the first time in the middle of my ride, which have different rungs for the rider to grab on to instead of shortening the reins manually. D was an angel and doesn’t green look good on him?
