she notices the notification on her phone; a smile immediately draws upon her features. pressing play on the recording, she was excited to hear what her friend would say since she knew he had remembered her birthday – he kept on reminding her of her birthday leading up to this very day.  

after hearing the full voice note, she laughed at his silliness before sending one as a response. she clears her throat and presses record:

“hey! kwon soonyoung! thank you so much, friend! I’m so glad to hear from you… I can even hear australia in the background!” she elicits her uncle-like laugh. “I hope to see you soon! don’t get lost in the outback, okay?”

Sejeong lifts her finger from the button and sends the note, shaking her head at herself.

Soonyoung, despite being hesitant at first to stick his nose and start talking to one of his senior that he’s barely acquainted with still stops by hearing her–part of him worried that something happens and the other part being that he’s alone right now, manage to muster up the confidence to asks her about the mishap that’s happening. Eyes blinking fast as he peer over at his senior while groggy that he might have been crossing over the line this time (he’s just a rookie and she’s a senior of few years and he’s afraid that he’s crossing the boundaries of this whole senior-junior system in the idol industry) while maintaining a small curve of smile. In the back of his mind he can hear Sungcheol-hyung (or anybody, really) calling out his name because he’s been missing for too long from the waiting room, but not that it’s part of his concern right now.

“–I mean, if you don’t want to tell me, it’s alright!”

Ninety-degree bows was suddenly given as Soonyoung stares at Mina with his eyes wide open, as if he’s being (too) obvious with how he’s being overly cautious and formal to the female, but he don’t walk out just yet and wait until she said anything in return.

Mina, in her distraught state, had not even noticed that the younger male is withing hearing distance. She isn't always such a drama queen, but considering everything that's been happening during her group's comeback week, her stress level is at an all-time high and her phone (seemingly) breaking down for the second time infive months wasn't helping at all.

She swipes her thumb across the screen, hoping for it to trigger something, when a male voice had spoken out of nowhere (or that's how it felt to Mina anyway), causing her to flinch in surprise. "Oh, whoa-" She looks up, blinking, before immediately bowing in return as well.

She immediately triesto wrack her memory for his name -he's in Seventeen, that much she remembers, but there are thirteen of them so his name doesn't immediately come to mind, unfortunately. "I'm sorry," she says instead, a sheepish smile on her face - she feels embarrassed that he had to see her like that. "It's just my phone froze,"she adds, waving around the handheld device to show the male.
